Chapter 14 Chapter 15 Nine days since the “membership card thing” started, and Kibum already earned his tenth chop (since he paid separately for his two cups of espresso on the first day only). Kevin did urge him to pay for his first one first, so his second cup of double espresso for the day would be free.
“Mm.” Kibum nodded, agreeable with the plan. He then sought out a ten thousand won note, handing it over politely to the waiter.
Kevin quickly then brought the bill to the counter, placing the change into the tips jar as Kibum said to do since the first day. Kiseop then pointed at a few raised hands, to which Kevin said he would attend to them shortly (after he stamped Kibum’s card, of course).
“Why would you do that?” Alexander pouted, folding his arms disapprovingly. “You’re ruining my daily show!”
“What show?” Kiseop raised an eyebrow, heading to the coffee machine to make a takeaway espresso con panna for the businessman waiting behind the counter. “Latte for Dongho’s customer, hyung.”
“Fine, fine.” Alexander sighed, giving Kevin’s back view one final glance.
Hurrying back to Kibum’s seat, Kevin fished out his purple angel stamp and happily stamped Kibum’s card which the older had already placed on the table.
“Tadas, you can ask for your coffee when you want it later.” The waiter smiled widely, giving the card back with a satisfied look.
Kibum chuckled softly, nodding as Kevin twirled around and headed to the nearest customer that called for him.
-
Kevin checked the clock and decided to divert his gaze from the shop entrance to Kibum. He blinked, before realising he had to check around for Soohyun’s presence.
“He’s not here.” Alexander giggled, before heading to get a slice of cake as if he had not spoken.
Scratching his own head because Kevin couldn’t tell if he was hallucinating or Alexander really did talk to him, he decided it didn’t really matter as long as Soohyun was really not around. The incoming Dongho then patted Kevin’s shoulder and poked his cheek when he turned around, to which both baristas laughed at.
“Hey!” Kevin pouted, determined to get his little revenge as Dongho passed his order to Kiseop and picked up the tray ready for him.
“I suppose telling you a certain customer has his hand raised would appease you, wouldn’t it?” Dongho blinked innocently, subtly pointing at a direction Kevin was too used to. “Or maybe I should go-”
“I’ll do it.” Kevin coughed, fighting the blush staining his cheeks while reaching for a tray.
-
“Kibum-ssi!” Kevin greeted, giving a bright smile to the older man. “Sorry for the wait. Would you like your free cup of double shot espresso to be served now?”
“No problem for the wait.” Kibum nodded, returning the smile as Kevin took the empty cup and placed it on his tray. “But yes, please.”
“Coming right up!” Kevin chirped, then bowing as he left for the counter.
He had to pause halfway to take an order, but it was just a slice of cake so it shouldn’t take too long to get. “Your order will arrive shortly!”
“Thank you.” The customer smiled politely, then returning to her chat with her friend.
As soon as Kevin reached the counter, he passed the empty cup to Alexander and received a cup of double shot espresso as if exchanging. “Oh, and a slice of blueberry cheesecake!”
“I’m on it!” Kiseop said, to which Alexander worked on Dongho’s order instead. Kevin then took the time to get a fork and a teaspoon along with two serviettes.
“So, do you still want to carry out revenge on me?” Dongho cheekily asked, while Kevin pinched both sides of the youngest’s cheeks. “Ouch!”
“Yes, yes, yes. Anytime and anywhere.” Kevin stuck out his tongue, chuckling while thanking Kiseop for the cake. He then turned around after placing the fork gently next to the cake, keeping steady as Dongho patted his bottom in retaliation.
Stopping at the table that ordered the cheesecake, he placed the plate of blueberry cheesecake above a serviette and apologised for the wait. “Enjoy your blueberry cheesecake! Are there any other orders?”
“No, thank you very much.” The lady replied, who Kevin smiled at once more before excusing himself.
The waiter then fixed his gaze on the customer working diligently on his laptop, taking quick but stable steps towards. As he stopped short right before the man, he took the cup of coffee and placed it on the table, serviette slotted between the cup and the saucer. “Your cup of coffee, Kibum-ssi.”
“Thank you, Kev.” The older man shifted his laptop slightly, then looking up at Kevin before the waiter could excuse himself. “That’s it?”
It didn’t seem apparent to Kevin that Kibum was just joking, to which Kibum didn’t know whether to laugh at or not. The waiter hurriedly considered his options, then placing his tray on the seat opposite Kibum before going to behind the customer.
Kibum frowned slightly, although his face clearly spelt amusement. He then minimized the windows he was working on, leaning back towards the chair as Kevin’s hands tugged on his shoulders. “What’s this?”
“A massage!” Kevin declared, putting pressure on specific points of Kibum’s shoulder with his fingers. “I’m not good with this but I guess I can’t just leave a cup of coffee for your continued support to the café!”
Kibum chuckled, nodding slightly as he enjoyed a few more seconds. It obviously couldn’t go on for too long since he was just joking, and it would be bad for Kevin if other customer asked for the same thing. He then lightly patted Kevin’s hands, assuring the waiter that it was enough. “All right, I guess that means more stamps on my card for another surprise on the twentieth chop?”
Kevin bit his lip with a sheepish grin, agreeing.
“You really do know how to surprise me, don’t you?” Kibum smiled, a hand feeling his stiff shoulder.
