Chapter 12 ”Good morning, Kevin.” Kibum smiled, waving slightly to the barista duo and Dongho at the coffee counter before following after Kevin as usual. “Do you remember the date? I lost count.”
“Ah!” Kevin suddenly exclaimed, blushing in embarrassment while he quickly checked his watch. “It’s the 16th of May.”
“Mm, thank you.” Kibum smiled, taking a seat while putting his laptop on the table. He was about to bring out his laptop, but then he felt that there was something wrong.
Kibum paused, looking up at Kevin with bright eyes. At least Kevin thought so.
The waiter was still in a daze, trying to remember if there was any one of his friends’ birthday on 16th of May. The date sounded oddly familiar, but many other dates are rather familiar to Kevin too. Hm…
“Thinking of something?” Kibum chuckled when Kevin jerked suddenly, noticing Kibum’s gaze on him.
The waiter hurriedly shook his head, telling Kibum that his order would come soon. Kevin then scampered away, blush brightly evident on his pale white face.
Alexander giggled as Kevin walked to the counter, rubbing his face furiously. He had seen Kevin dazing off and Kibum staring at him with that smile he knew Kevin couldn’t resist. After feeling embarrassed for that, the waiter is probably trying to will away the pink blush on his cheeks by his hands or something.
“Kevin, your cheeks will turn redder.” Kiseop frowned, reaching out to grab his hands. “You’ll grow rashes and pimples, stop rubbing.”
Alexander snickered harder, then bringing out the cup of double espresso he had made already. “Take this on a tray, turn on your toes, and go back to him now.”
The oldest in the café emphasised on the word “now”, much to the confusion of Kiseop and Kevin. Kevin did so anyway, deciding he shouldn’t let the coffee cool, going back to Kibum who seemed to be waiting for his laptop to start up.
“Your coffee, thank you for the wait.” Kevin settled the cup of coffee onto the side of Kibum’s laptop, before holding the tray parallel to his body and bowing politely.
“Wait.” Kibum called out, causing Kevin to jerk back, facing the customer once more.
“Yes?” Kevin smiled brightly, clenching his jaw at the same time and wishing that could slow down his frantically beating heart. He bent forward anyhow, to lower himself so Kibum needn’t look up to him while straining his neck. “Is there anything else?”
Kibum frowned slightly, hand reaching for Kevin’s face. The waiter widened his eyes at the hand that was heading for his face, but was frozen in position, unable to move. Only when Kibum’s hand landed on his cheeks did he blink, heart now pounding against his ribcage, ears suddenly unable to hear a thing.
“What happened to your cheeks?” Kibum inquired, hand leaving Kevin’s cheeks slightly and using his finger to stroke the rash. “It’s burning and red. Is that an allergic reaction?”
Kevin shook his head quickly, biting his lower lip painfully. “I-I think it’ll go away.”
“Put some ice on it.” Kibum nodded, suggesting in the meantime. “If it persists, you better go to see a doctor. A classmate of mine years ago didn’t think it was much, and he ended up being hospitalised for a month. Be careful, all right?”
“Y-Yes.” Kevin nervously said, before hurrying away, not waiting for Kibum to say anything further.
He didn’t notice Alexander nervously biting his fingers nor Kiseop laughing at the other barista do just that. Kevin quickly entered the staff area and knocked his head against the wall, cringing when it hurts too badly.
‘This is so embarrassing!” Kevin cried, grabbing his forehead and his cheek at the same time. “He touched me, he touched me!”
“Who?” Soohyun frowned at the younger boy that was curled up into a ball against the wall. “Who harassed you?”
“N-No.” Kevin quickly corrected himself, afraid that Soohyun would treat Kibum a lot more hostilely by getting the wrong idea. Who should be his scapegoat? “A-Alexander-hyung did.”
Kevin decided to give Alexander a big hug later and an apology. He’s not going to let Soohyun be anymore ruder to Kibum when it was just himself being an idiot!
“Ah, if you don’t like it, I can tell him for you. He’s a little touchy with everyone, don’t mind him.” Soohyun chuckled, ruffling his hair.
“No, no, I’m fine with it.” Kevin quickly said, hoping Soohyun wouldn’t find the whole series of event contradicting. “No worries, I was just being silly and accidentally hit my head. I’ll go out to serve others now!”
“If you say so…” Soohyun scratched his head, watching Kevin run out as if there was some monster chasing him.
Before Kevin could finish his run out to the door where the next customer waited, Alexander grabbed him and motioned for Dongho to attend to the young lady. “Kev, what did he say?”
“Huh?” Kevin cocked his head to a side, almost falling on Alexander due to the sudden jerk. He turned to the barista confusedly, then watched the door leading to the staff area, and back at the barista. “Oh, he said if I say so.”
“What?” Alexander gave him a look of disbelief. “Why would that customer say if you say so while touching your cheek?”
“Oh!” Kevin exclaimed, quickly scanning the café to see if anyone stared at him, before looking back at Alexander with the same blush he had earlier. “H-He asked me if I had any allergic reaction because my cheeks were red. Said I should go see a doctor if it persists because he had a classmate that was hospitalised for a month or something.”
Apparently, Kevin wasn’t the only one disappointed in Kibum’s words.
Alexander sighed dramatically, shaking his head. “Well, at least he cupped your face! I thought you guys were going to- Ah, nothing.”
“Hm?” Kevin tried to lure the answer out, but Alexander ushered him out of the counter gate and waved.
Kiseop, however, wasn’t one to be chased out. He hugged Alexander’s form from behind so he wouldn’t be able to run away, then looking at the older man from the side. “What is it?”
“I just thought they were going to kiss.” Alexander pouted. “That’d be so cute.”
Kiseop rolled his eyes and told the other man to be serious.

“What is love like?” Dongho questioned randomly during their lunch break.
“I’m not sure, Dongho. Are you in love?” Kevin asked quizzically. He sees Dongho daily, how could the younger suddenly fall in love without him knowing?
“Nah, just never experienced any kind of love before.”
Kevin paused, stunned face especially adorable in Dongho’s eyes. The younger then waved away the surge of worry in those concerned eyes.
The older waiter had found out that Dongho was an orphan when they were chatting about Kevin’s family, and for Kevin, not having parents is a pretty sensitive topic. Even if they had talked about it before.
“Hyung.” Dongho smiled, kissing Kevin’s cheek as if to wake him up from his temporary trance. “Don’t worry. I just want to know how it’s like for you to love that customer.”
“I don’t love him!” Kevin exclaimed, before quickly adding as soon as he felt stares on him, from the various customers to a perplexed Kiseop. “I just admire him, I mean, he’s a superstar with ten movies and millions of fans!”
“Tch.” Dongho chuckled, smirking while he walked away. “He’s a superstar, in your eyes, acting the movie of his life, and you’re his only fan.”
Kevin blushed, looking away and unconsciously staring straight into Kibum’s eyes. Kibum smiled gently, before nodding a bit as some kind of acknowledgement, while Kevin bounced away with a flushed face.
The only other person enjoying the show and wishing for a bag of popcorns would be Alexander.
“Hm…where’s my camera?”

HAHAHA, I don't know why Alexander ended up being such a comic relief or something...but...heh? XD
