Chapter 12 Kevin really doesn’t know why he actually listened to Kibum’s words. The shop assistant from the spectacles shop told him that his contact lenses were ready for collection and Kibum insisted they wear each other’s clothes the next day in school.
Kibum even made Kevin swear to change clothes or he would have to call Kibum “Kim Kibum-sunbaenim”. Pretty degrading since Kevin was only age-wise junior, not someone of a totally lower rank than Kibum studying in the same year. Adding to that, he was also half a teacher to Kibum.
“Anyway, when would you start calling me hyung? You should, right? Considering that we spend Tuesdays and Thursdays afternoon together, we’re somewhat close, we should start addressing each other less formally.” Kibum rubbed his chin as he thought.
Kevin fidgeted in the skinny jeans that was Kibum’s usual style, along with a T-shirt that was somewhat tight around his thin build. Kevin also had his spectacles off, and his hair styled to make sure he looked a little similar to Kibum. Just a little.
Kibum, on the other hand, had his geek spectacles like he wanted. Wearing them and then flattening his hair so he would look less tidy, he readjusted Kevin’s loose shirt on his toned body while pulling up the baggy pants Kevin thought was comfortable to wear.
“How do you keep them from falling off?” Kibum uncomfortably asked, pulling his pants up for the thirty-eighth time.
“You don’t. They’re somewhat tight.” Kevin sighed. “Anyway, I don’t think we’re close so formalities stay.”
“Oh my goodness.” A girl scoffed. “Is that nerd trying to act cool? But Kibum looks so cute in his new clothes!”
“…” Kevin sulked while looking at his toes, before his eyes slowly travelled up his build as if trying to visualise what he looked like to others. “Do I look that bad?”
“You look kinda awkward.” Kibum scratched his head, grabbing both Kevin’s hands and tugging each sides alternately with the younger boy facing him, causing Kevin to sway on the spot. He then threw Kevin’s hands up in the air and watched them fall to the younger’s side. “There, much more natural.”
“I feel like a puppet.” Kevin glared at Kibum, looking around cautiously. One arched eyebrow was all that was needed to cause Kevin to slump his shoulders in defeat. “I should go home and change.”
“No! No!” Kibum quickly stopped Kevin, going behind him and then pushing him forward so they were both walking. “Come on, it’s only for a day. I’ll stop bugging you to do this after a day. You might get good responses, seriously! You look pretty cute without your spectacles.”
“Of course you can say that…you look good in everything.” Kevin mumbled, not forgetting to blush slightly at the compliment Kibum gave him, hands instinctively going up to his face to push up his spectacles, only to realise it wasn’t there. Oh, right, he was wearing contact lenses today. Awkwardly, he dropped his hand back to his side and let himself get pushed by Kibum from behind.
Alexander was skipping out of the only class he has with Kibum when he paused. Turning to the two curiously, he widened his eyes and walked towards them both.
“Tell me you had a personality switch. What did you do? Drink some magic potion? Get shocked by electricity at the same time?” Alexander poked Kevin’s face, in fascination. “You actually look human for the first time!”
“…” Kevin sighed, but Kibum quickly pulled him back.
“See! That’s a praise!” Kibum grinned widely. “Wah! Makeover success!”
“Kim Kibum-ssi.” Kevin facepalmed. “I suggest you go to your class quickly because I can make my way to mine. Don’t forget that you asked me for help earlier yesterday so we’ll revise some English vocabulary during lunch later. Find me in the Mathematics class.”
“Yes, yes.” Kibum sulked, wanting to actually walk to Kevin’s class to see people’s reaction on Kevin’s makeover. He played a big part in it, afterall. He lent Kevin his whole wardrobe!
“And you have your spectacles now.” Kevin turned back after walking a distance, shaking his head. “I say it doesn’t work but if you think it does, you better concentrate well in lessons today.”
“Yes, sir!” Kibum beamed.
Alexander swears Kibum’s a closet nerd. Or maybe he’s already a nerd, only that he looks very good.

“Kevin, I’m sorry if I sound rude or whatsoever, but you look horrible.” A classmate Kevin never talked to before suddenly told him, and problem is, she is a girl.
“A-Ah.” Kevin stuttered. “Sorry.”
The girl seemed pleased with the reply, walking away with a smirk.
Kevin sighed, shaking his head. What was he sorry for? And what made him listen to Kim Kibum? Even teachers, IQ tests, common sense and every other type of gauges tells him that he’s smarter than Kibum. Why would he actually take up such a stupid suggestion, change out of his comfortable clothes and act like he looks good?
Fine, Kevin does thinks he looks just a slightly-tiny-bit good. I mean, his mother is beautiful, was a model, and his father is handsome, because otherwise his model mother would never set her eyes on him. Obvious facts, while the plus point is that his father is loving and detailed.
With such good genes, Kevin must look good, even if it’s just a teeny weeny bit. Kevin knows so, because it’s science, afterall.
Maybe that’s why he went on with Kibum’s stupid idea.
Whatever, it’s too late to regret. He’d just have to live with insults for the rest of the day. Fingering his (actually Kibum’s) shirt, he wondered why life was so unfair. Kibum still looks good in his usual everyday wear, and he looks like a wannabe in Kibum’s pretty common clothes.
Even his teacher asked him if he was feeling all right.
