So I’ve seen a couple commercials lately about http://www.intelius.com. The commercials are voiced by a young woman, are blatantly targeted at women, and are basically about researching the people around you to see if they have criminal records of any kind.
Images of a man driving up to a woman’s house, taking her bag, and walking her to his car… he closes the trunk lid and there is a sticker saying “I have a long history of domestic violence.” Cut to a view of the cabin of the car, both people are attractive and enjoying each other’s company.
Images of a young woman with a stroller, then her loading children gently into child seats in a minivan, then a shot of her back, and written on her shirt is “I have a history of reckless driving and a drunk driving conviction.”
There are several things about this campaign that bother me. I wonder if anyone else feels the same.
