The gig on New Years Eve with
ingenue_the went about as well as a gig can go. Even though we've not really played a B-Movie set together for four years or more and the crowd was a new one (in as much as very few of the old B-Movie crowd were out for it) I think we read the dance-floor nicely; worked out what they wanted and where they needed to be taken. There was sweat dripping off the ceiling. That is never pleasant, particularly when it is landing on your head, but it tends to be a sign of a successful set.
I have no idea what we played. I think Helen wrote it down though.
What I did observe is that DJing - particularly with Helen - is amazingly good fun. It is even better when you aren't the promoter as well. Being at a club I am DJing at without having to worry about logistics, door and bar take, customer satisfaction, and other things like venue shopping, flyering, social media promotion is a totally different experience; I just got to concentrate on the set and the sound.
The end of 2013 was summed up by me leaving my door keys at home and being unable to go home until the morning as a result - accidental afterparty oops. This meant that yesterday was a bit of a write-off. Today I am back at work, although working from home, and my glorious return to the office looks like tomorrow.
Still a bit frazzled. Words not really flowing. Going to go and read Hungarian law for a while to see if that helps unfog the old brain pan.
