There's been good and bad this week.
The big bad, fortunately, was just a case of me not having the right info about something, and that's now rectified.
The small bad is also easily gotten past. Folk Alliance cut their showcase slots by about 200, and I didn't get an official showcase this year. Believe it or not, that actually makes it a little *cheaper* to go, and we're still going. Cuz it's my birthday, and it's a hell of a party. Not to mention, I have friends and acquaintances hosting showcase stages of their own. Not go to a music conference in my town? Hell better freeze over. K got the hotel taken care of for me, and it's actually *way* cheaper than the last conference hotel we were in. Not bad for a town in which I could have any number of free places to sleep that are a bit removed from the action.
Also, I haven't spun fire since November 2. *itching. sad. pouting*
Now for the good.
There has been an abundance of Chocolate in my life the past, oh, nine days or so.
My infamous cohorts in the small-scale Skinny White Chick Takeover of a Vosges store will attest to this.
If chocolate does it for you, and you have the opportunity to spend something like $40 on it (or more), and it's really really good, don't pass it up. This is one of the benefits of being a grown-up (at least when it's convenient) and not having to pick one or the other anymore. I may actually like the Goji bar better than the Bacon bar, which is a bit of a surprise.
Chocolate part two: do not go to World Market. Bad idea. Bad, bad idea. Dangerous, British Cadbury Den of Sin. I am in Crunchy Bar heaven. And I deserve it.
Aside from the chocolate, I've also had good giggles and discoveries by way of YouTube, again.
Found a show clip I didn't even know about, which captures just a bit of the joy of 'Carousel' + accordion, thanks to Katy:

Another signal that I have arrived (this goes on the list of things that includes the AMAZING NY Orphan's Tales show with
yuki_onna during which I found myself singing for a packed house in NYC...on a Tuesday) also comes from Katy.
Mixed blessing: my last show of 2007 is this weekend. And I've had TWO offers to do last-minute Memphis shows before January first in the past couple of days.
best good of all plus extra: I will see many good friends on the way home after Saturday, and then I will BE home. Until then, our hostesses have a hot tub and an inexhaustible supply of funny stories to tell.
Little bit of show bidness (read: good karma opportunity): for the folks planning to attend the Maryland house concert this Saturday, if you wouldn't mind giving someone a ride, please leave me a comment. Our friend Nina wants to come (she lives maybe 12 miles away from the concert site) and needs a ride.
By the way, it's not going to be icy that night. Weather witches, back me up here. :D
quick recent tour recap: free porn, midnight cookie delivery, and damn good chocolate... this, this is how I roll.
