Just a few photos from this weekend. omnisti was doing triple duty as roadie, sound man, and support, so I didn't ask him to be photographer on top of all that.
Both the Friday Traveling Fates house concert in St. Louis and the Saturday Traveling Fates house concert in Raytown/Kansas City were completely packed and tons of fun.
Friday night we performed in the sexiest house in St. Louis. It's true. Go look at the pictures.
Saturday we performed at the coziest house in Raytown. The weather nearly killed us, but we made it. And let me tell you, Bekah was dynamite at the Saturday show. Her banter was choice, and she just made the whole room come alive. For my part, I got to perform "Come Down" with my Fates while wearing an amazing new hawk mask/head dress, crafted by Mitch, one of our Friday night house concert hosts. It was an amazing end to our little tour.
Sunday we drove back to St. Louis, and all day Monday Ginger and I had our last marathon album mixing session. We managed to get three more songs in the can and tweaked to our satisfaction, and we called it done just after midnight. I suggested we run upstairs, go outside, and roll around in the grass. Ginger took me literally and off she went! I joined her, and there was much laughing and, yes, rolling around in the grass. Bekah came out to say WTF, and when we told her "we're DONE!" she could hardly believe it and sang our praises to the sky. Much Fates hilarity followed, and we cackled more than loud enough to wake the neighborhood--though not on purpose! So much laughter, so much beauty. We bless each other's lives, even though we all go through a short period at every reunion of thinking "I can't possibly be good/beautiful enough to be part of this project with these amazing women." The power of three is a true thing. I am so lucky.
Ginger and Bekah bid St. Louis (and me) goodbye yesterday and headed for OKC. I held the tears back until they were out of sight. It's not really goodbye--it's more like "see you next week." We will reunite in October for more music--we're currently working on booking shows in St. Louis (yes, again!), Indianapolis, Tennessee, and Florida. There is also talk of getting back to Texas at last, and New Orleans too.
GBMojo will give a swingin' concert in OKC tonight at Sauced. If you're in Oklahoma City, you should head their way.
