Pirate Academy rehearsal - revised plan

Jun 28, 2008 02:34

What I'm getting from comments from several of our brave brave singers is that a Tacoma rehearsal on July 3 is not really easy to make happen.  So here's another idea.

If all of my talented, wondrous volunteer singing pirate lasses could meet me near the Treasure Cove stage (where we're performing) on July 4 at exactly 3pm, that would be great.  I do not have a map of the festival to show you, unfortunately.  But I trust that the festival will provide maps or signs of some sort.

The plan is for Tricky Pixie to have the Alma Mater close our set--so we won't actually sing the song until 5:30pm or so.  But I'd like to have all the ladies get together to run it earlier that afternoon, if at all possible.  I will try my best to be as helpful as possible if anyone is having trouble with the words or the music.  However, I'm betting that you're all going to pleasantly surprise the hell out of me and bring happy tears to my eyes.  Not to worry.  Everything will be fine--I'll be the only one of us with a microphone.  :D

What I am hoping to do is sing the first verse of the Alma Mater solo--once I start with the first line (deliver me mother/to sword and to sail), that's the cue for all of you to line up in front of the stage.  By the time the second verse begins (deliver us home/to the dear jolly roger), everybody should be up in front of the stage, ready to sing.  Single-file is best, I think, as opposed to some crazy choir standing arrangement that I'll have to come up with on the fly.  (EEK!)  If it's comfortable, please do wear your piratical best that afternoon.  If it's beastly warm out, though, do what you've gotta do to stay comfy.   In any case, our audience will be sure not to forget us, thanks to you brave wild women!

Let's meet up at 3pm, if you possibly can.  We can make this work.  In fact, we can blast it out of the water.
Those who can't meet up at 3pm, please leave me a comment--especially if you have some other idea how I could manage to go over the song with you before Betsy, Alec and I start the show.

completely and utterly off topic:
comfort inn in steamboat springs will charge you $40 extra for late checkout, even if you only had the pleasure of checking in with them at two in the morning.  this, I feel, is Evil.  And not the Voltaire kind.
