Hey, Old Friend

Japan was awesome.

I had about a week of leave, but thanks to the travel time from Europe, I only had about four full days in Japan. Thank goodness for business class cabins with flat beds that make these long-haul trips just a bit more comfortable.

Given that I already did the tourist traps of Japan when I was a kid, I only had three objectives for this trip:

1) Reconnect with my oldest friends. This was supposed to be a reunion, after all.
2) Eat everything in sight
3) Shop, shop, and take advantage of the extra baggage allowance

I'm glad to say that all three objectives were met.

In reverse order, I kinda went crazy in Uniqlo. We don't have Uniqlo in this part of Europe; we have to go to Paris to get our Uniqlo fix. I also made pamalengke; I managed to bring back dilis, curry, noodles, bonito sauce, nori, mushrooms, and even a kilo of good Japanese bigas. Yes, bigas.

Oh, and I also stocked up on matcha kitkats, lol.

Speaking of food, every meal was awesome. Ramen, Tsukemen, Katsu, Curry, Okonomiyaki, Sushi, Yakiniku, Ramen again, dear lord, I was in heaven. I'm kinda thankful now that I'm not posted in Japan, coz boy will I get effing fat there.

And finally, there were the old friends. It's almost like we were teenagers again, sleeping over in didinskee's room. I hadn't realized how much I missed being around those two. I haven't laughed so much for four consecutive days in the longest time. I really missed that.

And now, I'm back in Europe, and the skies were extra gray to greet my return. I wish I spent a teensy bit more time in Japan. Heck, I could've saved some leaves and gone for Easter. But hey, at least I have time over this weekend to do some spring cleaning.
