Super creamy brie (we had Qualicum Islands brie, which is incidentally served on a scrap of guitar wood from a nearby luthier) + Maple Butter (from Montreal's Jean-Talon market) + pine nuts served on a cracker with a sip of oaked Chardonnay (in this instance, Kettle Valley 2006 Chardonnay from Naramata) = mouthgasm!

... but then I realized the reason I was so moved wasn't just that she's so great, but also the realization that maybe the reason she (and Paul) had made it this long without being recognized probably has something to do with the whole attractiveness thing, and maybe they were held back because they didn't "look the part" (whatever that means), but now they're finally on stage in front of the world fearlessly saying "yes, look at ME" (I loved how she provocatively swung her hips at Simon) and getting the recognition they deserve, finally. So it's a bit like a dream come true sort of moment.
And sure, there are plenty of awesome and unrecognized attractive musicians as well, but that doesn't make for such an inspiring "fuck you, social expectations of beauty+talent" sort of story :)
