Ok...so my head didn't explode...

But the issue I was fearing last Friday has resolved itself quite well.  I gave my current manager my 4 weeks notice (I'm generous aren't I), and all is set to quit!  It hasn't really hit me as of right now, but I'm sure the last week I'm here as I'm packing up my stuff, it'll seem more real.  First thing this morning, he sent out an email letting my unit and managers know I'm leaving.  There were a few immediate questions, but I'm being kinda coy, telling people there were a lot of reasons why I'm leaving.  Right now, they pretty much think it has to do with gas prices (I commute 1.25 hours one way), but we all know that's not the real deal.  I'm going to let people assume whatever.  I'm feeling too good to care.  D-bag even talked to me to ask...said he "hated to hear it".  BULLSHIT!  The asshole hadn't talked to me in the past 3 weeks, but he's sorry to see me leave.  He can go get hit by a bus for all I care (his usual saying, not mine).

Shane and I had a pretty good weekend.  First thing that morning (around 6 am), we went grocery shopping, then came back and hung out while a line of thunderstorms moved through the area.  Right after that passed, we went to the mall in Montgomery.  First, Shane bought himself a bracelet at Zales...it's not feminine or anything, it's actually quite cool looking.  It was 70% off, so we got it for like $70.  It was too good a deal to pass up, and I know he's wanted a bracelet for awhile.  Then we went to Verizon to add text messaging to our cell phone package (our bill was growing increasingly higher b/c of text messages) and I got a new cell phone.  Metallic Blue LG Chocolate - so cute.  I didn't want a flip-phone anymore, and this was perfect.  Sucks it cost so much, but I had said I was getting a new one with my last (literally last) gainsharing check, so I'm cool with it.  Then I got something to eat at the food court, and it was off to the other mall.  There we stopped at Books-A-Million and picked up a couple of magazines to send to my brother in Iraq.  We also went to the World Market and got him some nonperishable food items to send as well.

Saturday night, we went to Clanton to visit with Shane's friend Tim and his fiancee, Amanda.  They cooked a crap load of Mexican food...probably enough for at least 20, and there was only 8 of us.  But we hung out there for a good while.  It was nice to get out and mingle with people, because Shane and I usually go it alone.

Sunday we didn't do anything.  Cleaned house, sat around, ran a quick errand.  Too tired from the previous night.  We saw my brother online (in Iraq), so we called my parents over to the house, so we could all chat with him.  He's doing fine...he's not out doing patrols or anything like last time, but this time he's in the actual city of Baghdad, so I worry about that.  But he seems okay, so I guess I'm good with it.

Anyway...I got sidetracked by actual work, so I'm gonna sign off.
