Apparently I've been kidnapped. Or magically transported somewhere against my will. Which are really the same thing, if you think about it. Either way, it's decidedly odd.
I have no idea where I am. I had a key, and I had a number carved into my palm.
What's 3712...?
Possible reasons for such a number in my palm:
1. The number is used for identification or grouping purposes. Possibly there are so many people here that in order to keep track of everyone who has been kidnapped they use numbers. Or perhaps the numbers are used to group people for specific purposes. Luckily, it is carved into my hand, not burned or tattooed onto my arm, so hopefully I'm not to be killed or meet some other dire fate.
2. The number is a clue. This is a possibility. 3712 is the number assigned to the Kraft asteroid. Perhaps this is the year 3712. All four digits of this number are divisible only by themselves and one. If converted into letters, 3712 becomes 'cgab'. Upside-down in a calculator, 3712 becomes 'zile'. One of these interpretations may be somehow correct and prove to be a key hint to where I am and why.
3. The number is a mistake. This would be supported by something unusual for me happening. I may have become intoxicated, stumbled somewhere dubious, asked for this number to be engraved into my hand, and drunkenly stumbled here as well, trying to get somewhere, which would explain the key in my hand. The drunkenness would also explain why I have no recollection of how I got here or the number, but intoxication is highly unlikely, as I have no past trend of being as such in my life.
There were a large group of houses. None were 3712, the odd number in my hand. I picked 10A to try with my key out of spite, as 10 is not prime, the base of all common math, and an ordinary number, the complete opposite of 3712.
So. Now I'm in House 10A. That, apparently, is what the key is for. The number, however, I do not yet know.
