So, I got a letter in the mail today. It was...good news, I think. Ano, it turns out my mother had an older sister, who's been living in Hokkaido since before I was born.
I...don't know what to think. I've always been raised to believe that my Oba-chan was my only family. My parents both passed away when I was a little kid and my grandfather before I was one. It's always been Oba-chan and me, until the past few years. My dad didn't have any siblings and no one really knew anything about my mom's family, so we always assumed that I didn't really have any relatives on that side. If I did, then I didn't know and I had no idea where to even start since Oba-chan didn't even know my mom's maiden name.
There was a phone number and an address including in the letter. I don't know where or how to begin though.
