I have arrived safely in Oregon, after a harrowing six hour journey during which I was sure I would expire of boredom.
There is no wireless in the area, so this update is being made on my uncle's machine. Franziska (my lovely, if tetchy, Macbook) is currently playing the part of a jumped up DVD player and is none too happy about it.
I'm beginning to realize I probably should have brought my camera along. There's a pretty cemetary nearby and a lot of awesome parks and stuff. Also lots of "bohemian" kids. Them I don't want to photograph. Them I just want to punch.
By the way, I'd totally forgotten to mention: My grandma? Crazy. No, really. She was projecting at me so hard it was all I could do not to bang my head against a wall. Apparently relationships are irreversible, I should make sure that I'm not always the person giving, I should go find myself a different relationship, OH! And I shouldn't do it on the computer anymore because you can't get to know anyone over the computer. It was the "irreversible" thing that made me groan-- I know there wasn't such a thing as a no-fault divorce when you got married, grandma, but I promise, I'm not dating my grandfather. (He wasn't abusive, just very patriarchal.)
I'm also pretty sure the "find another relationship" bit was her way of saying "go find a boy".
My mother reminded me that my grandmother also thinks I'm a murderer, so I should really just take everything she says with a grain of salt.
I may or may not update more later this weekend. I'm leaning towards "yes" if only because it means I can hide from my family. I know I'm supposed to be visiting them, but I was done visiting after about an hour.
silliness,
family
