I don't usually post this much! (Re: Yuletide)
I might as well do that whole "Hi, Santa". I've never done this before, so forgive me if it sucks.
I don't really have much to say. I like slash and femmeslash best (as my prompts clearly attest,) but I adore fics with plot-- so I won't mind something plotty (although preferably with friendship and/or rivalry between the requested characters, if you don't want to toss the pairings in.) I can handle het, although those don't tend to be my favorite pairings-- as for which of the requested fandoms I don't mind het in, see the request notes below.
I don't mind angst, but not in huge doses-- I've never particularly been a fan of deathfic unless it had the service of a wider plot (for instance, Andry reacting Sorin's death would only work for me in the context of a plot.) Huge, heaping doses of angst have a horrid tendency to make me roll my eyes-- I like my fandom stuff to wear its humor on its sleeve even when there's angst involved. I prefer dry humor, snark, and banter. Similarly, overly romantic schmoop makes me snicker. Try not to be over the top about romances. Honestly, it's all about moderation-- not so much angst that it overwhelms, not so much joking that there is no emotional connection witht he characters, not so much romance that there is nothing else to the story.
Not much squicks me-- that isn't an invitation to try, though. BDSM, incest, dub-con, that sort of thing? Pretty much okay in my book. Whatever rating you want to write at is fine. I'll like a plotty, sweet G-rated fic as much as a hardcore dirtybadwrong NC-17.
Individual Request Notes:
Request 1: Dresden Files (TV); Morgan
Mostly, I just really have a crush on Morgan. He's a bitch, but he knows his job inside and out. He's got an odd relationship with Mai that I wouldn't mind being explored, but mostly I just want to see him at an earlier time in his life-- before Harry and through a different filter than Harry's perspective. I want to see him at a point where maybe he's slightly less competant and a little bit more distractable, but becoming the irritable, violent Warden we know and love.
This is one of those fandoms where I honestly don't care about pairings. Morgan's of the sort that you could pair up with anyone, as long as he's characterized well, and I won't mind. Give me some plotty Morgan backstory and I'll be happy. (If you wanted to write Morgan being sexed up by Mai or some evil thing, I wouldn't complain at all, though.)
Request 2: Melanie Rawn - Dragon Prince Series; Any
When I said any, I didn't really mean any. They didn't have all the characters I wanted to pick, and I figured it would be easier to just say all. I haven't read most of the Dragon Star series, so the earlier in the timeline the story is set the happier I am. I really know almost nothing about Andry's kids. If you don't want to write my (admittedly kind of kinky) suggestions, I would prefer you write older generation. Anything from Andrade through early in Pol's ruling of Princemarch is fine. Just keep in mind I haven't read the second series and write accordingly.
Again, another fandom that I don't mind het-- I can stand most of the canon pairings. The only one I'd honestly prefer you stay away from is Pol/Meiglan. Totally canon, I know, but she annoys the ever-living fuck out of me for reasons I can't articulate. I'd prefer the pairings I requested (PLEASEOHPLEASE), but most other pairings won't bother me.
Request 3: NXM/Academy X; Any
Hush, I like slash in this fandom. Honestly, I like slash, but the entire point of this comic for me is that characters are all distinct and interesting. If you wanted to do a character study or a plotty thing or anything like that I'd be more than happy.
Honestly, this is a series I think would work better with a plotty story-- there are a bunch of short vignettes in this fandom and very few long stories. For instance, give me a story about the kids finding out what kevin's doing with the Hellfire club or something. Or a House of M AU, set as though Wanda never ended that world. I know I just said give me slash, and if you want to do a teen getting together story, that's awesome. But if you wanted to do a casefile or comic storyline-style arc that would be just as, if not way more awesome.
Also, if David is a main character and has to deal with his identity issues after losing his powers I will love you for fucking EVER.
The only character I would prefer that you avoid is Laura. I know a lot people like her (maybe even you), but I find her mostly irritating.
Request 4:Eoin Colfer - Artemis Fowl; Artemis/Butler
No, I don't mind if it's underage. Artemis is one of the few characters who can get away with it. If you write him underage, the difference between his body's age and his mental age should be clear ::COUGHwhy hello there, pubertyCOUGH::
Artemis is amazing at mindfuckery and beyond that he knows how to manipulate Butler within an inch of his life. Granted they can both do it, but it's rare to see an AF fic where Artemis isn't victimised. Also, he's BRILLIANT. I love his arrogance, his blazing intelligence that leaves little to no room for understanding basic human emotional interaction, and his strategic mind-- and Buttler's quiet acceptance of all these facts of Artemis' personality, his focus on duty, and that fact that every so often he can just make a dry little joke and startle Artemis so much because he's known him forever.
