Emo entry from yesterday afternoon has been bahleeted, because I'm riding the high from the concert.
HOLY SHIT WAS THAT GREAT. You guys who couldn't make it missed out on a fucking incredible concert. And SHIT, I was right up against the stage. Right in front of Freddy! Christ, I was all but deaf for a good hour afterwards, but I DON'T CARE. I also don't care that I will have no voice tomorrow.
I just sort of rock-- I managed to score the set list (and get it signed by everyone but John, who didn't come out afterwards), one of Sonia's guitar picks (given to me by some sweet guy who was friends with a cute girl I was standing next to during the concert), and one of Freddy's drumsticks (shit, does that guy go through drumsticks like nobody's business!) Also bought a t-shirt afterwards. I think I'll wear it tomorrow.
The opening act was passable-- probably be okay on a CD or something. But the energy just CHANGED when Cowboy Mouth came out. They were totally fucking with us at first, playing with the lights and holding off on coming out-- but when they did, it's like something electrified the place. Everyone was moviing and dancing and clapping (well, almost everyone.) It was amazing. God. I can't explain it. They just have an energy all their own-- the expressions John makes, the sort of dorky way Paul sings, the bursts of energy when Sonia stops smiling at the crowd and gets really into the music, and Freddy-- oh, Freddy. He has something inside him that just BURNS.
On a bad night they'll tear the roof off the joint, and on a good night they'll save your soul.
I had a couple of people be surprised that this was my first concert-- I can only surmise that it's because I knew most of the songs, and I just threw myself into it. But there's no point to going to a Cowboy Mouth concert if you're not going to give it your all.
Italics are the real title, bold is what the set list actually says.
