Slice o' Life, 12/11/2007
I haven't posted in a couple of weeks, so I'll be breaking it down . . .
- My older brother Peter went home Wednesday after Thanksgiving, and I had a great week off, if a little busy in finishing the student films I related to last post.
- The 7th Quarter started at ITT Tech last week! I finally get to have Jason Van Gumster for a teacher! He's a local animator, who looks a lot like Craig McCracken (the creator of The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends)! He's great to have as a teacher. I have Mrs. Archee on Monday nights, and she's a nice lady. I can't believe that I have one more quarter to go! I've been so used to being in this school.
- John Rocco Roberto, the co-founder of G-Fan and G-Con, has died of cancer on Dec. 5th. I may have had my issues with him in the past (which have long since resolved), but I really do feel sorry for him. May he rest in peace.
- My deviantART site has reached 5,000 hits!!! I'm planning on putting something together for the site to celebrate the occasion. Now, some of you may be thinking, "5,000 hits!? John, that's pretty weak. This other guy's site has 35,000 hits! You can do better!" Well, maybe I can, but still, I'm mostly doing the work-in-progress that is Rekira (with TONS of stuff yet to be scanned), and I occasionally do other things on the side (my Ultra Seven and Abby Archer drawings, for example), so I don't have as much to show for it. I have yet to break out the big guns, but I'm happy with the relatively low profile I have right now. My time will come.
- I finally saw the trailer for the upcoming Speed Racer movie last week. Oh, my god! The look, feel, casting & characters are all RIGHT ON THE MONEY!!! Oh, my god, this looks like it'll actually be good! Meanwhile, emo-technogeeks expecting a "serious" and "realistic" tampering-- er, I mean, adaptation are probably cringing in terror over the colorful campiness!
