Unnecessary review... coz i'm being geeky B3
I wouldn't deny that Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon series were one of my 'basic' learning. Not really hardcore, but it's definitely not the one I'm going to pass.
And the transformation scene, is of course the thing I don't wanna miss. However ridiculously speaking, for example, one transformation took a minute to do, but still, the every aspect of it was really a total candy to my ears and my eyes. Allow me to review it, for the sake of my geekiness.
Power 1: Fresh Prism
The keyword is (crescent) moon, hence the form of the "light pieces". This is the really fresh idea of transforming in that era. And the most beautiful thing I saw here was the choreography which is not just about circling around, but the dynamic camera angle and beautiful croepgraphy are the thing Sailor Moon Live Action failed to adapt. The "ping" sound effects and the disco-like BGM are the most catchy aspect of this scene.
*I'm still hunting the OST about the 1st henshin scene only, by the way...
Power 2: Sequel to the Crystal
The keyword is feather and wing, considering all the feather-like "light pieces". Basically the choreography is similar to the first transforming, but in different angle, and when the first transformation makes an implicit homocentric (i.e. Left and right sides, poses are like mirrors), this sequence is otherwise.
Power 3: Cosmic Excellency
The keyword is Spiral and Heart. The pieces of light forms something like heart. Watching this is like watching a ballet doll in a shop window. The camera angle is mostly static, but it is covered with the beautiful choreography, especially when she lifts her feet(!). Usagi Tsukino is not known for being a good dancer, but the transforming scene could really turn her into a great ballerina XD The first and third henshin scenes are the most I like.
*I wouldn't review the "Crisis". not really worth it.
Power 4: Double Crisis
The keyword is back to Crescent Moon, and double. Literally, I would say, this is the Crisis point of the idea. Two main transformation scenes by default, would take a double amount of time! So they compress it into one scene, which I would say, not really creative, compared than previous scenes. The choreographer started to lose their touch.
Power 5: Eternal Lame
The keyword is REAL feather, basically is more likely to Crystal, but instead pieces of light, the feathers are likely real. But this is the time the choreographers have no more idea to dig. The forehead symbol takes more than a sec, and so does the gloves, EACH side! and the outfit are all covered in just a blink behind the feather, so I think that's it. 'Sad' ending for the transformation, because I would have expected something more beautiful, hence she turns into 'ETERNAL' level. Pity, it's the lamest henshin scene.
