Shine, shine your light on me... [Holiday wish list post]

Dec 16, 2011 17:20

STEP ONE
# Make a post to your LJ. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related to medium to really big. The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
# If you wish for real life things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) can get in touch with you. Your home address is not required!
# Make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

STEP TWO
# Surf around your friends list to see who has posted their list. And now, here's the important part...
# If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true.
# You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf - to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not - it's your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give and you might receive. You'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1. Money and/or gift cards. I know it sounds boring and uninspired, but my financial situation isn't that great with the whole living away from home but not having a job thing. I'm generally fine on stuff like rent/food because I get money from my parents, but I really don't have money to spend on extras most of the time.

2. A job? Seriously, the best thing that Santa could bring me for Christmas would be a job. I've noticed my self-esteem is a lot better when I'm working, and a self-esteem boost would be very welcome right about now. Plus I'd also like to have my own money again.

3.A door. I don't expect anyone to actually buy/send me one, but I do actually want a new one. Mine's kinda falling apart so I'd like to get a better one.

4. Things in the mail.It can be something as simple as a letter or card or you could send other stuff too if you want. (Well, except for bills and junk mail. I don't really want those.) Regional foods/snacks associated with your home town are always super fun.

5. Tarot readings. Things have been pretty rough for me lately and the cards have always been really good at helping me break out of my preconceptions and look at things from different perspectives.

6. Art of my characters. I guess I'm mostly talking about Mio here. What little art I can find of her is terrible fan art drawn by middle schoolers and it makes me very sad. So having good art of her would be awesome! (I can provide reference pictures.)

7. Icons and/or other computer graphics. Because you can never have enough icons. For my personal journal the only requirement is that it be pretty. I also tend to prefer non-fandom icons over fandom ones but it's not a hard and fast rule. For my characters, I've kind of been thinking about doing a custom journal layout for Mio but I've never been able to figure out what I wanted to do graphics-wise so I just keep putting it off.

8. Fic & fic recs. First off, I <3 original fic. I've been mostly reading White Collar, Sherlock, and oddly enough, Vorkosigan saga fic recently but I'll read pretty much anything that's well-written. I also <3 crossovers, both cracky and not. Feel free to rec things from whatever, even if it's based on a fandom I'm not familiar with--I tend to acquire fandoms by reading fic of it and then watching the show, rather than vice versa.

9. TV/movie/book recs. Because it's winter in Iowa so there's will be a lot more with the staying indoors where it is warm.

10. Do something nice for someone.
