A beautiful excerpt from St. Stephen's by Sky Gilbert:
I had this teacher at university. He was one of my best fucking teachers-a real old fart, but really smart. Anyway, he said that literature was all about reading something, then living again, then going back to the text. In other words, you have to slip some living in between those books and compare what books say about life to what life actually is.
I'm only on the thirteenth page, but I'm really digging the narrative style <3 So casual and conversational, like you and the narrator are sitting on the back porch and he's telling you a story.
In other news, my internet connection is dreadfully slow at the moment.
