I start this topic off with a self-made picture from one of Half-Minute Hero's endings from Hero 30. (( The real caption is, "Money is ALWAYS the right choice!"
First off, this game is awesome. Simply awesome. Buy it off PSN, 'cause there's a download for it. I actually supported them, everyone can!
The premise of it is... simple. You're a traveler who's been shanghaied into being a hero. The twist? The boss of every "quest" can end the world in 30 seconds. Usually by booming the world.
And this is just the FIRST PART of the game, there's 3 other "main" scenarios, all of them connecting. You can reset the time by being extorted by a goddess who controls time.
What happens when you don't?
BOOM. World over. TRY AGAIN MATE~
The second, Evil Lord 30, is a rather interesting RTS-type game. You play as an Evil Lord, commanding vast monsters. But watch out, after 30 seconds you gotta run home to yer castle before you tan from the rising sun! Gotta watch that... girlish figure. And your bat-like girlfriend. Same thing for time here as well, except she takes ALL the gold you hold at that moment. Extort HER for once, make her take 10 gold a pop. Avenge Hero!
Run outta time? OSHIT I GOTTA USE THE 'LOO~
Next, is Princess 30! In this, you play a petite princess, who becomes a card-carrying psychopath when she uses her father's crossbow to save the kingdom. This is a rail shooter, using the action buttons to fire bolts and bolts and bolts. The catch? You have a 30-second CURFEW to save yer kindgom, stage by stage. Guess what happens when you fuck up?
- MOTHER LET ME IN OMG OMG OMG NOOO~~!
Next up is...
The last thing I can discuss without spoilers. Knight 30, protecting a Sage who can revive you constantly!
In this one, monsters have boomed the world. You're a Knight of a failed kingdom, forced to protect the Sage, who can blast monsters out of the way with the equivalent of a holy spell. 30 seconds is the rule here. You get to do this action-style, picking up swords, broken helmets, comatose mobs, and even the sage himself! You get to also use traps and take advantage of the stage's terrain as well. What happens if you fuck up here?
Just the knight kneeling over a staff and BAWWWWing. Not even worth screening. :(
The graphics are simply amazing. 8-bit glory, but crisp and clear, with awesome effects to go with it. The soundtrack has some of Japan's most accomplished guitarists on it, as well as the guy who does the music for the Star Ocean series.
I give this game a 10/10. :D!~ PLAY IT. Or hero will end up on a deserted island.
See?
I guess in the end, it's better to donate to the Time Goddess, 'cause...
