KCON 2012: The Land of Letdown

Oct 15, 2012 16:30

Oh my god you guys, if any of you ended up going to KCon... IT SUCKED ASS.
The concert made up for the entire shitty day, though.

First of all, on KCon's official website, it said each person could bring one plastic water bottle into the event.  Well, when we went through the front gates and did bag check, if you had a water bottle with you, you were made to throw it away.  I'm glad I didn't take one.  Still, I shrugged that off.

Also on the official website, it said for each band there would be a fansigning.  As long as you had official band merchandise (which could also be purchased there), you could get it signed.  So my sister stood in line at the merch booth while I went to jump in line for Nu'est's fansigning.  It also said on the website that you weren't allowed to line up until thirty minutes before the fansigning started.  I got over there 40 minutes before and there was already a line to hell and back that had formed.  Okay, so it really wasn't that bad and I was actually quite happy that I decided to go there when I did because I knew we had a decent spot in line.

THEN THE FIRST AND WORST LET DOWN OF THE DAY.  This guy that was part of the event staff comes out and tells all of us we have to have a ticket or we can't get a signature.  So I was cool with that.  I had my ticket, right?  Then he goes onto explain that only 50 people were given these special tickets and they're the only ones that can get a signature...  But that we were welcome to stay in line and try and get a ticket for one of the next groups.
I WENT FOR NU'EST AND I DIDN'T GIVE A SHIT IF I GOT A SIGNATURE FROM ANYONE ELSE.
It went chaotic.  Even people who paid for VIP passes weren't able to get the signatures.  Girls were crying, screaming, parents were flipping the fuck out, things were being thrown.... I have now fully experienced fangirl meltdowns and let me tell you, they aren't pretty.  I couldn't blame them, though.  I mean, I was LIVID.  We were all blatantly lied to on the website.  We were conned into giving them our money to see our favourite bands up close and get a signature when it didn't even happen.

So I knew that they would have to enter the fansigning tent one way or the other.  I went to the side with security and I waited and that was the moment I got to see the inhumanly gorgeous 5 boys that are Nu'est and I filmed them walk into the tent and they waved and it was exciting ^^  (First not let down of the day, even though it was still a let down because I wanted their fucking signatures more than anything.)
And honestly, I wouldn't have bought the poster that I did if I knew I wasn't going to be able to get it signed.  But whatever, it's a hot poster, so I easily got over that one.

So oh man, I was really pissed off about the fansigning ripoff.  Then there was a Q&A section and we were told that only some of the bands would come out there so we waiting up close and of course... Nu'est was one of the two bands that DIDN'T go out there. But I still was standing in a good spot when they left the tent and I was able to film them exit and they all waved except Ren who looked the other way to wave.
Oh my god they are so beautiful.

The activities sucked.  They were super lame.  There was a very small variety of booths as well, which was upsetting.  My cousin snagged a Bigbang single which was probably the most exciting purchase of the day because even the official merch was extremely limited.  It was lame.

Now the price of food/drink is always ridiculous at concerts, but oh my god this place...  A bottle of water was $4.50.
Here's what I had to spend in food/drink.
Water $4.50, ONE FUCKING SLICE OF PIZZA $7.50 YES SEVEN DOLLARS AND FIFTY MOTHERFUCKING CENTS, lemonade $6.00, one last bottle of water before concert $4.50.
Surprisingly, 8 pieces of sushi was only $10.00 which I ate for dinner.  It would've only been six, but apparently we weren't told about the meal tickets that only half the people seemed to be informed about.

THIS WAS THE MOST UNORGANIZED EVENT I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.  Not to mention, the things they told us on their website COMPLETELY contradicted what we actually could/did do at KCon.

B.A.P. performed first and let me tell you, I actually expected better from them.  I'm not a HUGE B.A.P fan, but I do know a little about them.  They started with No Mercy and they killed it.  It was exciting and energetic and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  But then the other two songs they played... They just... I don't know, lost their energy and their dancing was kind of bad...  Zelo was being cute with the other members, though.

VIXX played next and I had never even heard of them before KCon but I actually really like them.  I thought they were going to be B.A.P at the fansigning so I recorded them coming out and I was like, wait... who are these people?  ha ha
but they performed with a lot of energy and their MC was adorable and they tried so hard to speak English and I just kinda fell in love with them :)

Then G.Na performed and I fucking hate her so bad oh my god I didn't think it was possible to hate a famous person as much as I hate her.  She seemed to be the only one that lipsynced 100%.  She was really bad at it.  She didn't even know the words to her own songs.  I'm convinced she's not even the one singing because she talks with a lisp, yet doesn't sing with one.  She helped MC the concert and she held the prompt cards right in front of her face as she'd say things like "That sounded really good, I really enjoyed that performance" and I was like really?  You sure you're not just reading it on the card you're holding right in front of your face with no emotion at all?  The woman has absolutely NO stage presence.  I seriously couldn't stand her.  I don't know what it was, but something seriously made me hate her so much.

Then Nu'est came out and YES OH MY GOD THEY KILLED THE ENTIRE SHOW AND PUT EVERYONE TO SHAME!  Those boys are so amazing and I was screaming and jumping and dancing and I didn't even remember to record anything or take any pictures ha ha
They all said a message in English and they were so adorable and beautiful and amazing and oh my god this performance right here made me not even care about the entire bullshit day I had just experienced.
I am so so glad that I went!

I actually didn't watch Exo and 4-minute (or whoever the hell it was).  I was a little sad not to watch Exo, but I'm not a huge fan of theirs either, so it didn't break my heart.  I like Exo-K and it was Exo-M, so yeah.  I had to drive home from Cali to Utah RIGHT AFTER the concert.  So the earlier I was able to leave, the better.

I was really hoping to be able to take hundreds of photos of all the bands at the signings, but the fucking idiots running KCon ruined that for me.
