LIES!!!!!!!!!
I posted this bulletin last night.
After a run of this program in Buffalo, New York, New Mexico is considering running an inmate recovery program based on the teachings of L. Ron Hubbard and founded by the Church of Scientology called "Second Chance." The Church of Scientology themselves are incredibly secretive about this program, and all we know about it is what we hear on the news and from articles such as the one below. This article, however, highly understates the heavy emphasis on it's "holistic program." also received an $x-million grant and gave a false description of tax money WE PAID for a facility that apparently only the government and the scientologists know what it's for. A New Mexico reporter traveled to the address on the brochure and it put him at a PO box office.
Why the secrets?
We need to question what our government is doing with our tax money... and the rest of our country.
Please pass this on and enlighten innocent civilians as to what mischeif the governemnt is pulling us into.
"Gibson, the county's chief prison administrator, said the inmates working on the building were model prisoners who are considered prison trustees. He said there were no sex offenders or violent offenders among them.
"It's an inmate works program," he said. "These are people who have never had an opportunity to work before. We designed the Service Action Corps to do some non-profit community related projects."
"If you can teach them something they can utilize for the rest of their lives," he said, "when they get out, they can support their family and their lifestyle."
Other prison crews, he said, have helped clean up county parks, a local cemetery, helped shovel out downtown fire hydrants after major snowstorms, and are helping construct a West Seneca golf course as part of the Tiger Woods' First Tee program.
Gibson said the trip to Mexico that he and Huggins took allowed them to see a Scientology Second Chance drug program that uses long sessions in a sauna with large doses of vitamins and minerals.
"It was a holistic program involving saunas and a vitamin regimen that actually purged the toxins out of your body," he said.
Gibson said he had hoped to start a pilot program involving the Scientology methods here, but said prison administrators have not had time to do it.
A Scientology benefactor had agreed to fly 23 members of the Nevada State Legislature to see the program, but the trip was called off after a legislative leader said the program was scientifically invalid and called the free trip "inappropriate."
Reile said volunteers come from all over the state to help work on the building and said the church hopes to move in by May 1.
Richard L. Ogorek Jr., the city's deputy commissioner of Permits and Inspection Services, called that hope optimistic. He said the city has issued two building permits for the work so far, but said the third permit will not be issued until the church submits a detailed set of plans and drawings."
I received this reply to it today:
The government being secretive with what it does with our tax money is nothing new. Nobody regulates what they do with except them so it's kinda something that we can't do much about. Really this whole " American democracy" thing needs to be rethought, its just not working. America needs a restart button right about now....at the very least in terms of our government.
Truth there.
However, I dont know if Im imagining things, but I think I sensed a bit of hopeless, its useless trying attitude coming from that reply.
Maybe it's just the eternal idealist in me, but I figure, if enough people see what is going on, and if enough people get mad enough about it, we can change things. We should have the power to regulate what they do. The government is not God. the government should not act like they are.
Kind of like V for Vendetta. Maybe without the costumes. But it would be cool if there WERE costumes. ^_^
I think it's fucked. I hate being lied to. No one deserves to be lied to. And the fact that our government, one of the greatest powers in the world, is so adept at the art of deceit, is really fucking frightening. Something needs to be changed. AND FAST.
Bulletins probably don't accomplish much, but people do see them and it's better than letting everyone continue in ignorance. And it feels good to know that even though I'm doing something relatively minimal, I'm actually doing something. I haven't been able to fight for my beliefs for a while, because I have a hard time making up my mind as to what exactly I DO believe. But this is one instance where my mind will not change, EVER, and I will do all I can to fight for this.
I'm not trying to justify myself really. I don't think I need justification in posting that bulletin. I'm just very loud about stuff like this... lol getting me to shut up about this type of thing is like... sitting on a fire hydrant to make it stop shooting out water. It doesn't work. And your butt might be a little sore afterwards. :P
Afterward:
I just received ANOTHER reply... and in it, I was called a fool.
Is it so foolish to be hopeful and idealistic? It may not be realistic... but the more idealists out there, the more realistic our ideals become.
In my opinion, the true fool is the person who underestimates themselves, resigns themselves, and believes change is impossible. They have no right to say I am a fool, because I'm at least getting off my lazy ass and standing for what I believe, instead of mocking others for their individual efforts.
Less and less people believe things can be changed because less and less people actually TRY to change things. And the few that do get rewarded with the title of Fool.
Does anyone else agree that this is fucked?
Perhaps our government is not completely at fault.
Perhaps the "realists" (read: pessimists) are.
