My sunday started off with a highly terrible, guilty feeling. I woke up with a phone call at 7.30. It was from a friend who is leaving to India today. This is how the conversation went,
Me: Helloooo
Him: Arey yaar,
Me: Helloooo
Him: Oye bhai,
Me: SHIT!!!! (looking at the clock)
Him: No probs yaar, I am leaving now. Will meet some day again.
Me: Sorry man, wish you a happy journey. Bye.
Background:
Yday night, we had a farewell party for the chap. And I got back home promising these guys that I will drop in their apartment by 6.30 in the morning. Normally, they all wake up only after I drop in. I was home by midnight and was on the comp till 3.30 or so. I planned a short nap with an alarm for 5.30. Needless to mention that I slept through it and woke up with his call. Luckily, he woke up at least today on his own and did not miss his flight.
Still, it feels so terrible that I couldn't keep my word. It is more of a guilty feeling. And it was not only with him. I was supposed to make another important call almost 2 hours earlier. I am not sure if I was over confident about myself and underestimated the power of sleep. It was a learning moment and hope I do not do any such thing in the future.
