Merry Christmas, Drake and Josh! Review (My Point of View)

Dec 06, 2008 17:18

Okay, I've been a long fan of Drake and Josh. I remember watching Drake and Josh on the Amanda Show. I originally started out as an "All That" kid. I watched "Kenan and Kel". I miss those shows. I started watching the Amanda Show because I was really into Amanda Bynes. As I got older, my tastes matured to these lovely young men. :) I didn't watch Drake and Josh when it first came out in 2004. I wasn't interested in them at all. I was watching Kenan and Kel on the N. I thought that I've seen every episode. Maybe I could watch something else to get the Kenan & Kel feel. In March 2007, I watched my first Drake & Josh episode. I've now seen every Drake & Josh episode about 20 times each, lol. Nickelodeon and the N plays lots of repeats. I grew up as a Nick kid and I'm proud of it. I never watched Disney. I first started watching Nick in 1997 (eight years old), when I first got cable. I started out with All That than moved onto Kenan & Kel. I love Drake & Josh so much! It always mad me laugh even after rewatching them. I'm actually watching Drake & Josh now. Josh changed so much, it's scary! LOL, his voices, his hair, his looks, his muscles, his body are much better now. Being an almost 20 year old female, I'm only human lol. I've always prefered Josh over Drake.

Merry Christmas Drake & Josh review begins! Note that these are my views and you might think differently.
First off, the movie felt more like a movie. I didn't feel the Drake & Josh feeling of the show at all. It feels like Peck & Bell might have not been into it as much as a few years back. There were some boring moments to the show that I actually yawned. I expected it to be much funnier sorta like Drake & Josh Go to Hollywood! I loved Drake & Josh Go to Hollywood!

I'll start off with the minor characters
Mindy: Magical! Her kiss with Josh was wonderful. I wish Mindy would have been in more of the movie.
Walter: Looks as if he might have gained weight. He still had the same funny personality though. I enjoyed watching him. Walter needs a major haircut!! The hair looks good on Josh, not Walter.
Audrey: She was good. Looked about the same from a few years back. It was funny seeing the parents on vacation and how it turned out.
Bludge: Hillarious! I surely enjoyed watching Bludge. If it wasn't for Bludge, I probably would have turned the movie off, lol.
Ms. Haefer: It was funny to see her for that brief second. However, it wasn't clear how old Drake and Josh were suposed to be. 18? 19? 20? 21? I thought they were suposed to be about 18 probably. But, they definitley seemed more mature.
Crazy Steve: OMG, he was great. But, do you think that Crazy Steve was a little overdone this time? LOL, I liked when Crazy Steve exposed Perry's plan to tell Drake & Josh around the kids that they will go to jail if they don't keep their Christmas promise. The wood chipper, Sally was great! Jerry Trainor was probably the best in the movie and brought the most comedy to the movie. (Although, Josh brought some physical comedy but I think it was overdone with hurting Josh so much.)
The joke about Drake being hotter than Josh was so stupid!! How can you say that when Josh is now 10x's hotter?

Start of the movie: Drake driving some older blue car. Megan driving a motorcycle. Isn't Megan underage to drive? lol.... Josh was putting up a snowman balloon. Megan came to cut off the balloon. It flew away. Josh said evilll and chased it.
My thoughts: The start of the movie wasn't very exciting to me. I expected more.... something more comical?
Drake and Josh work as Santa and a sack of toys. Drake makes a christmas promise. Josh goes to jail.
My thoughts: Why did Josh go to jail? He didn't do anything. He accidentally fell into the truck. Is it just me or did Josh not seem to be 'into' playing the sack of toys? OR is that how it was supposed to be?
Drake breaking Josh out jail when Josh didn't want to go.
My thoughts: How did Drake get outside the prision with no one spotting him? How did he dig that hole in the wall with no one seeing him? I didn't feel the connection between Drake & Josh as I did in the show. Maybe it's because they got older? I just think it was a bit weird.
I can't help but to think of how much Josh has changed. I look back on the series with curly short hair. Now, Josh has straight long hair. (I know that Josh cut it after the movie was over.) Josh's voice changed a lot. He did a good job of trying to talk like Josh Nichols though. I saw the Wackness and I could hear some Luke Shapiro words slipping in, lol. Like I remember when he was laying on the jail cell, he sounded like Luke. and I think I heard him saw NAWW like Luke Shapiro. Very odd that there was a character named Luke in the movie. It reminds me of Luke Shapiro haha....
Drake seemed to be more normal than the show. On the tv show, Drake and Josh..... Drake was portrayed as stupid. Haha, he seemed smarter but it made the movie a little more boring. The part with making fun of the parole officer's name was funny. But, problem is that I saw it in previews already.
OMG, I loved the GPS scene. That was probably my favorite scene of the whole movie. They bought a $6 gps machine online. That is the only scene I really laughed at besides Josh falling a couple times, lol.
Now isn't this a little to repitive?
Josh calling Megan 'little girl', Churros at the party, Josh getting hurt and trampled on every other scene, the kid that can't speak english (funny at first lol), making fun of fat people. Remember Drake and Josh Go to Hollywood? A fat couple sat between Josh. Helen made a joke about Josh defatifying himself. The fat lady chasing Drake for a kiss as santa. Drake yells Santa is not looking for a relationship at this time!
Now, does Josh have to get hurt and fall to stay the nerd? It feels different. I think Josh could play Drake's role now and Drake could play Josh's role. But, I think Josh has got to be better at the physical comedy.
Drake and Josh try to make it snow but it ends up shooting ice everywhere!
Really Funny! Drake and Josh both get knocked unconsious too.
Drake: Good music! :)
Josh: Great physical comedy
I don't know why I expected more? I just can't put my finger on it....
Overall: I was disappinted with the movie. I saw more than half the movie in previews. The first five minutes was put out by Nick in previews so I already saw that section. I thought Drake and Josh would be a little better than this. It almost makes me disappointed for actually waiting for it for this long. I mean, the show Drake & Josh was legendary! It was great. I can watch it again and again. The whole story line was totally predictable and overdone time again time again. I thought Really Big Shrimp was a good closing to the series.

Maybe they didn't care how others felt about the movie? It seems like it would be a good reunion for the cast. But, I couldn't feel the magic that I usually feel in Drake & Josh. It's kinda sad that Drake & Josh seem to be falling apart. Maybe I'm not used to this type of movie. I've seen it four times already! I feel sad a lot more than happy and laughing.

Rating: 7/10
I expected more but it was a good flick for the family.
I hope to see something from Drake & Josh in the future. It doesn't feel like a closing to the show. Really Big Shrimp did. But, I understand that they are getting older and movies are the way to go for Drake and Josh.

Review to be continued.....
