A pine tree, pocked with marks left by a passing bear. Evergreen empire, downfalling flakes, breaking branches. An owl, fox, and hare share a common shade that no tree casts. Pillowy crunching underfoot, soft whistle on the air. A stoic monument, a fallen column that couldn't bear the weight of a trillion nothings. Creaks and crackles reverberate from a long lost crash, remeniscent of a whisper that came echoing back as a scream. A happy wish that haunts as an unending dream; a nightmare, a thing too obscene to believe. Like a falling tree; you see it first and stay to watch the crash, and then, regret.
