So! Since Digi got me rather interested in this, I'm going to start keeping a dream journal and try to remember the things that I dream about so I can look up their meanings. And this would be today's dream...which is incredibly short, but it was an odd one:
In a mid-western town set in the 1800s, I'm running from an angry crowd of people and stop dead in my tracks when I come across the body of a man hanging from a tree. The man is Orson Bean...for some reason. The crowd rushes up on me, they stop dead in their tracks and an old portly woman yells "Better him than you!" ... and then they all walk off. End dream.
I have lovely dreams, don't I? :D
Okay, soooo...meanings!
Past
To dream of the past, suggests that a current waking situation is paralleling a past situation. You need to learn from the past and not make the same mistake again. Alternatively, the dream may represent unresolved issues from the past. Or that you need to stop living in the past and look forward toward the future.
Crowds
To see an unruly crowd in your dream, signifies that the worries and problems around you are pressing in on you.You are expressing great distress.
Actor
To see an actor or actress in your dream, represents your pursuit for pleasure. Your admiration of a particular celebrity may lead to a desire to have some of their physical or personality traits. Consider also who this actor/actress is and what characteristics you associate with him or her. These may be the same characteristics that you need to acknowledge or incorporate into yourself. The dream may also be a pun on his or her name.
Oooor
Celebrity
To see a celebrity in your dream, represents your beliefs and understanding about him or her. Consider what the celebrity is famous or known for and how you relate to that quality. Something in you waking life has triggered these similar beliefs and feelings. It is not uncommon that your obsession with a certain celebrity may carry over onto your dream world. Celebrities are often seen as heroes and all that is mighty. Also consider any puns within the name.
Hate
To dream about hate, indicates repressed aggression and your fear of confrontations.
Death
To see someone dying in your dream, signifies that your feelings for that person are dead or that a significant change/loss is occurring in your relationship with that person. Alternatively, you may want to repress that aspect of yourself that is represented by the dying person.
Acacia Tree
To see an acacia tree in your dream, symbolizes your attitudes with death and your sense of mortality.
So! My basic understanding is that...well, first of all, I think Orson Bean was there because I saw an episode of The Twilight Zone that involved him as a nice guy. So! I'm thinking that...the dream is basically my fear of how the world around me reacts to my general "nice guy" personality. Part of me wants it dead so I can fit in with the crowd a bit more, but in the end, that part of me is one people wouldn't like to see me without once they get to know me. It's also a part of me I wouldn't want to be without because, though I have it dead and hanging, I'm unable to run past it and the crowd stops behind me. Perhaps that also indicates my need to make people understand how I feel? The feeling of needing to fit in is something I've experienced often, so that might explain the 1800s setting.
