So, on youtube, the people who make makeup tutorials are called "makeup gurus." Yeah, there's been drama about the qualifications of some "gurus," etc. but there are some products floating around that a lot of them have in common.
One of which is the Mehron Aquacolor Pastel Palette (it also has a Basic, Tropical, and Metallic version). I bought the Pastel and Basic (and am coveting the Tropical simply because I'm lazy and don't want to mix colors). Another is the Ben Nye Lumiere Palette (purchased at a discount from a local retailer *highfive*), and the last is the 120 Manly Palette from ebay.
The thing that gets me is that these "gurus" only use one or two colors from these palettes and you never see it again! So, I am making it my goal to make as many looks as possible with these palettes. This is also to restrict my makeup purchases and save money-- but it gets my creative juices flowing!! When I have enough, I'll make a compilation video and post it on youtube. Let me know what you guys think! I plan to do the same thing with other palettes (such as the Get Baked palette I splurged on).
Mehron Pastel + 120 Palette:
Light Pink Redo
[EDIT] Oh, and I'd like to add that I did this four times and still managed to fuck it up. Oh, well, live and learn, right?
Light Blue/Teal (or Re-L redo)
I just realized how similar these two are. Maybe that's because I used the same bright blue, and the crease color is the only difference. Above, I used teal; and below, I used blue from the Basic Palette.
Mid-tone Blue
Pink and Purple
Honestly, all the work is in blending the base. The 120 is really just setting the creme and adding some sparkle because the shadows on their own are so sheer (but if you were to add just a white glittery shadow everything would come out more pastel-- I tried).
Mehron Basic + Ben Nye:
Hufflepuff Cut Crease (or Silk Spectre from The Watchmen)
Slytherin Cut Crease
I'm so pissed that the silver didn't show *at all*-- I should've made gray instead of using flat-white. >:(
The green also should've come out darker, for once, I'll say that I blended *too much*.
Maybe I'll do series, which is common among people running out of ideas. After noticing Silk Spectre in Hufflepuff, I want to do a Dr. Manhattan just so I can do the symbol somewhere.
"If you have a problem with my attitude, I am prepared to discuss it." *swoon*
Oh, and all of these have the same highlight (Urban Decay's Foxy), same mascara (Cover Girl Volume Exact in Very Black), and same "eyeliner" (Mehron Basic Palette Black applied with a CRAFT brush-- how "crafty" of me :B).
And enough with this "water-activated bases" crap. Mehron is FACE PAINT. You know, for CLOWNS? *massive eye roll*
