i met brad will briefly at a small party in wash heights, nyc in late sept 2005. we were celebrating a mutual friend's birthday party. little did i know he'd be murdered by the mexican govt not long after, for simply filming and reporting current events in chiapas/oaxaca. also of note is how the Us helps to fund the Mexican military in their fight for 'national security' which is a code word for 'counterinsugency'. a movement called zapatismo started in southern mexico (officially in 1994 to commemorate NAFTA, but they were active 2 decades earlier) and spread slowly over the years to cover guerrero and northern mexico as people protest on topics covering corporate hijacking of indigenous lands, workers' rights and govt repression.
