~ "So you're telling me that I've been sleeping with a minor?" You have no idea how much this cracked me up like - Shoon has killed and beaten up and done all sorts of Yakuza-like things but the prospect of sleeping with a minor oH GOD I'M BREAKING THE LAW NO (His logic makes me lol I'm sorry)

~Urgh also Hikaru is so cuTE - does he know that he actually has feelings for Keito or does he pretend its purely platonic?

~ The convo when Shoon and Keito are calling out to eachother in chapter 7 while fighting off random enemies is so cute idk man it kinda reminded me of pirates of the Caribbean (in a good way)

~ Shoon is also boss as fuck man

~ What happened to Keito's nightmares? did they just dwindle and go away over time or did he just unconsciously completely forget about them with everything going on with Shoon?

~ Chinen immediately turned his attention to his boyfriend, a warm smile on his face, and Keito was shocked by the complete one-eighty. Chinen was completely different around Ryutaro. He seemed warmer, happier, and more open and trusting. He seemed more willing to allow emotion onto his face, Goddamn he should never have taken up position of kumi he wasn't meant for that he was meant for RyuTARO HE WOULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH HAPPIER WITHOUT THAT STICK UP HIS ASS THAT KAWAII MOTHER FUCKER URGH

~ SUPER IMPORTANT QUESTION: who tops Keito or Shoon?

~ Yuto would be proud of him for eavesdropping so successfully. So would I Keito, so would I.

~ Ryutaro you selfless bastard idiot - what was Ryutaro's thought process when he decided to leave, I mean I can understand he must have felt awful for causing Chinen to leave his post as Kumi but like, why did it create such a strong impression on him that he left?

~ Kinda feel sorry for Takaki but we all know Ryutaro's better for Chinen so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

~ How many black suits do these people own, there is a limit I mean srsly.

~ But the way Keito found out about Shoon's tumour coming back is pretty heart breaking - WHAT IS IT WITH THESE GUYS AND KEEPING SECRETS I MEAN SRSLY.

~ You dealt with Shoon's illness well, it was quite accurate (his disintegration I mean)

~ What did they actually do to Ryutaro in the wakaba

~ What was it that made Ryutaro/Chinen decided to visit Shoon before the rest?

~ HOW DID YAMADA AND DAIKI SPEND THEIR ANNIVERSARY - Yamada you bastard whY DID YOU HAVE TO DO THAT TO DAIKI NOT COOL BRO. NOT COOL.

okay but like, I know you only write JUMP and stuff but the idea of an underling spin off with Shintaro and Bakaleya and other Johnny Juniors is maKING ME SWEAT Okay I'll shut my mouth now

I LOVE THIS AU DAMMNIT MY FEELS.

~Poor Daiki is right. I feel like Yamada, and the other boys, but especially Yamada (and Inoo) have really softened him up a lot, he's more open to feeling than he was when he was younger, and he cares more about how the rest of them perceive him. He wants them to love him, and he wants to love himself, but murdering someone, even by accident, can really put a dent in your self image, and can really change the way people perceive you. That was why he was distancing himself from Yamada so much after Kamiki died. He had this fear that maybe he wouldn't love him anymore; wouldn't want him anymore, that he'd managed to drive Yamada away, and he was regretting it, and mourning, and punishing himself for it. And that fear extended to all of them, but once Yamada had convinced him that he wasn't going anywhere, Daiki managed to eventually, with Yamada's help, come to realize that they all still loved him.

~Hikaru is definitely aware of his feelings for Keito, but since Keito has a boyfriend, a boyfriend Hikaru approves of, he is pretty much trying to get over Keito and forget his feelings.

~Keito isn't really one that has lots of vivid dreams--that was something I wanted to illustreate as a big difference between Keito and Daiki's characters when I got started on GYL. So yeah, his nightmares just fade away. And while Kamiki's death does tug at his conscious, he does eventually have more important things to deal with, and so it fades into the past.

~YES but Chinen was young and riddled with insecurities before he took the Kumi-cho position. He had to grow and mature to realize that he didn't need to have power to be happy.

~IT gets revealed in Do Scars Fade, but....Shoon.

~Well, as you'll come to see in You Found Me, Ryutaro is willing to sacrifice a lot for Chinen, and more specifically for Chinen's happiness. He gives up living with his brother (who he'd been searching for) to live with the kumi when Chii asks him to stay, and then when Chinen decides he's going to be kumi-cho, he gives up being with Chinen (despite them having just figured out their feelings), because that's what Chinen wants. Then, once they finally get together, he sacrifices being open about their relationship (which he really struggles with) because Chinen wants it to be a secret. Ryutaro loves Chinen, and he's spent many years of his life doing anything he can to make Chinen happy, and to have failed so completely in doing what he'd devoted himself to doing--to doing everything he could to make Chinen happy--he feels very repentant. Not only did he betray the rest of the kumi's trust, he's betrayed Chinen. He's taken away Chinen's leadership position, something he had been sure--due to Chinen's insistence for years that they had to hide their relationship--was more important than him. He underestimates Chinen's love for him, he doesn't realize that Chinen had finally chosen him, (because Chinen didn't really include him in the decision, all he is a part of is the meeting when Chinen gives leadership to Hikaru, and then cries) and so he repents. Chinen is everything to him, and he feels like he's failed him.

~I did a lot of glioblastoma multiforme research for these fics, so I'm glad you could tell. That makes me really, really happy.

~So with the Wakaba their whole thing was that word had kinda gotten around that Chinen and Ryu were a thing, and they were going to hurt the kumi by stealing and beating up the leader's boyfriend. They didn't know that Ryu had run away, and they didn't believe him when he told them that no one would come for him. They just beat him up, fed him inadequately, and tried to get him to spill inside information about the heisei kumi.

~OKAY SO while Chinen and Ryu were in the kumi when Shoon was leader, they weren't there for all that long in comparison to the other boys, and they have a bit less of an emotional connection to him (at least, in comparison to Hikaru and Yabu, who were raised by Shoon), so it's a bit easier for them to handle. ALSO Chinen has technically given up his leadership position, but he's used to being the leader, he's wired to feel responsible for them at this point, and so while Hikaru is struggling, he kinda quietly fills in, and takes a leadership role. (Not with the other boys or anything, just in taking the initiative to go into the room, and support Keito) and Ryutaro goes with him to be Chinen's support.

~Daiki and Yamada's anniversary is only four days before Shoon dies, so...they don't actually really celebrate. They spend a lot of time at the hospital. They wish each other a happy anniversary. Daiki buys doughnuts and surprises Yamada with them over lunch, but it's pretty much pushed aside to focus on the tragedy unfolding. Not forgotten, but just quietly placed on hold.

I REALLY WANT TO BE ABLE TO TELL YOU IF ANY OF THESE SPINOFFS AND IDEAS YOUR ASKING ABOUT WILL EVER BE WRITTEN BUT I LITERALLY HAVE NO IDEA IF IT WILL BE A THING OR NOT. I've got lots of things I could expand on and write, and so you'll probably be getting a lot of kumi fic out of me though, so don't worry.

~ Aww man my feelings, once Shoon dies, will Hikaru ever make a move in the future? or is this something I will find out/look forward to in future kumi!au fics?

~ Ah I see, that makes a lot of sense, I couldn't quite appreciate that as much as I would like because my dreams are all extremely vivid (and can be quite dark) so I find it difficult to appreciate how dreams are different for different people

~ Once Ryutaro comes back from being missing etc, does Chinen struggle with guilt and try to make it up to Ryutaro or is that something they get over quite quickly? Or will I find this all out again in a future part of the series?

~ Huh, that makes sense as to why he was more tired out then after they did the dirty on their anniversary (I wasn't sure if it was his illness tiring him out or what)

~ I would ask more questions about Chiitaro bUT I WILL PROBABLY GET IT BETTER ONCE I READ YOU FOUND ME SO I'LL WAIT TILL THEN

~ Yeah, due to experience with my uncle (who also had a brain tumour), I found you description of Shoon's deterioration quite accurate, especially when it went to the sleeping and coma bit.

~ Jesus, poor Ryutaro - and they locked him up for all that time? Christ that boy has will power.

~ AWWWWWWWWWW why is Chinen such a cutie pie and whY IS RYUTARO CUTIEPIE-ER I CAN'T DEAL ;;

~ Oh jeez... that must have been really sad for the couple, I wonder if the year later they find it hard to celebrate due to the reminder of Shoon's passing etc.

Oh but I thought of a few more questions I meant to ask:

~ why does Yamada get maple leaves specifically to represent his and Daiki's years together?

~ it amuses me how Yamada and Daiki appeared to be the most surprised by the Chiitaro relationship reveal - they were so caught up in their own world awww

~ Who's taking over from Hikaru with all the killing jobs? Or is Hika gonna continue dealing with that as well as being kumi-cho?

SORRY I GET TOO EXCITED WHATEVER YOU WRITE FOR THIS AU WILL BE BEAUTIFUL I KNOW SO YAY \o/ sorry for the endless questions I ask I'm so greedy urgh

~You're not getting anything out of me about the whole Hikaru/Keito/Shoon mess until after the next fic.

~Oh wow. See, I rarely have dreams of any significance, and even then I only have had...three dreams in my whole life I can remember. So I usually don't play around with the whole vivid dreams thing, because as I don't experience it, I'm worried that my portrayal wouldn't be accurate.

~They have a discussion about it, so that they understand each other, but their isn't a lot of residual guilt or anything that lasts for an extended period of time. By the time the next fic starts, it's pretty much behind them.

~I'm so sorry about your uncle. I've had two important people pass away in my life recently, and know that's really rough.

~Yamada's tattoos:
(bear with me here, I'm kinda struggling with wording)
OKAY SO basically the maple leaves are symbolic of his relationship with Daiki, especially in contrast to the sakura, which are symbolic of his relationship with Yuto. Sakura are seen as this fleeting but beautiful thing=his feelings for Yuto, his first love. Meanwhile, maple leaves are longer lasting, and their colors can be intense and strong=his feelings for Daiki. Plus, as a side note, maple trees have always symbolized home for me personally (I grew up in Appalachia, and it looks like this in the autumn:

so that kinda affected my decision as well.

~As for the killing jobs, that's answered in the next fic, so you'll see!

NO I LOVE THE QUESTIONS, I JUST HOPE I'M GIVING SUFFICIENT ANSWERS.
