Daily Meme: Day 12: YOU WON'T SEE ME COMING!

May 21, 2010 13:30

Whatever tickles my fancy? :D Okay, then! Here's the full extended official music video of the ending theme to one of the best examples of post-CGI animation ever to be made, Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo.

This anime is basically an adaptation of Count of Monte Cristo, except it takes place in the future. IN SPACE. Well, part of it is in space. Most of it takes place in a crazy future-version of Paris. JUST LOOK AT THE ANIMATION HOLY SHIT ISN'T IT BEAUTIFUL the whole show looks like this, I'm not even joking.

The best part of this is that it is quite a good adaptation, taking into consideration the time restraints. I mean, the book is EXTREMELY long, I tried to read it and got over halfway through, which my English professor mother assured me is farther than most people get. XD It's just that the novel is so old that it was written before modern fiction so it doesn't have things like INTERNAL MONOLOGUE. The Count will say something like "Muahaha, they'll never figure out my evil plan!" out loud while in a room full of people. It'll just say that like, he muttered it behind his hand. I'm like WOW PEOPLE IN FRANCE HAD HEARING PROBLEMS I GUESS.

I digress. The point is, this is a fantastic example of animation for people who are anime fans, or who just enjoy beautiful film adaptations of literature. <3

If you're even remotely interested in The Count of Monte Cristo, animation, film, or anything else along those lines, you should really watch this series. Its only one season, and you can rent the DVDs on Netflix or anywhere that carries anime or TV series DVDs.

*cough* I also might sorta kinda be a fan of The Count x Albert. As in yaoi. As in slash. As in OMG THE COUNT TOTALLY WANTS ALBERT'S BARELY LEGAL ASS HAWT. <3 Only Franz wants him, too! Oh noes!! PLUS THERE'S CROSSDRESSING!! =D I'm not even joking, this show has some serious gay vibes. XD
