He is Kyomoto Taiga, a member of SixTONES, who also decorated the gravure of Sunday magazine in the new year. In fact, he passed the Class 1 of Conan Certification test, and is a huge fan of Conan who talk about it even on his private blog! Rest assured! He only talks about Conan here (LOL).
Aoyama-sensei gave him a special colored cardboard for this interview!! Kyomoto-kun was so pleased that he immediately considered buying a photo frame on the spot.
-When did you first meet/know Detective Conan?
Kyomo: I think my first encounter with Conan was when I was little, my parents bought me Detective Conan at a bookstore as a reading material while riding the shinkansen (bullet train). It was around my kindergarten or early elementary school days…. I found it really fun and addictive. Isn’t the new manga issue out every 3-4 months? So, I’d pick up the new issue at the Tokyo Station and read it during shinkansen ride on every Spring, Summer and Winter break. For the movie, [The Phantom of Baker Street] was the first movie that I saw. Since then, I go to the cinema (for Conan’s movies) every year.
-What made you decide to take the Conan Certification test?
Kyomo: I often do self-googling about Conan (LOL). I’ll look for any new information, like regularly check the schedule for the new issue, then I happened to find the certification test and I thought I have to take it (LOL). I didn’t know the level (of difficulty) for the Class 3 test, so in a few months of the preparation I thoroughly read back from Volume 1 and challenged it! It would be difficult, but I wanted to pass it in one shot! (LOL)
-Do you go to see the movie version with someone?
Kyomo: I’ll watch it alone for the first time, then the second time I watch it with a friend who casually likes Conan. For the first time, I really want to be immersed in it by myself… (LOL), and watching it twice has become a routine. Recently, because there are many friends from Jr. who like Conan too, I sometimes go to watch it together with them.
-By the way what is your favourite Conan movie..?
Kyomo: It’s classic but my fav are [The Phantom of Baker Street] and [Crossroad in the Ancient Capital]…….. personally I love all of it but the one I watch like mad is [The Private Eyes’ Requiem], to the point I remember the dialogues! First I was super happy when *Hakuba Saguru came out in the movie! I also really like [The Last Wizard of the Century], there was a time when I admire Scorpion (the culprit in the movie) LOL. When Conan’s identity was about to be revealed at the climax, and he said, “I can’t take it anymore….”, or any scene where the cut drawn by Aoyama-sensei comes out, it’s greatly rise the excitement!
*a famous High School Detective, supporting chara in the franchise Magic Kaito
-Is there anything that makes you think “I’m glad that I like Detective Conan”?
Kyomo: My knowledge widened (LOL). There are a lot of difficult kanji characters, and because I’ve been reading it since I was an elementary student, I think I’ve acquired bits of knowledge that I wouldn’t normally know. I also feel that I’ve become stronger in solving mysteries. Being able to withdraw the ability to solve mysteries, I wonder if my insight has gotten better…. (LOL).
-What kind of development that you expect in the upcoming original work?
Kyomo: Conan transforms back into Shinichi, so even if Detective Conan is ended, I’m wondering if another work such as Detective Shinichi that depicts Shinichi’s daily life will start (LOL). In the main story we can only see Shinichi once in a while, so I wonder how he usually spends his time, that’s how much I want the work/ manga to continue for a long time.
BEST 3 Recommended Episodes!
We asked Kyomoto-kun who reads the original work many times over to choose his fav episodes!
1. Kudo Shinichi’s New York Case (Volume 34-35)
Kyomo: Shinichi’s line, “To help someone a logical mind isn’t needed” is dope! It has double-meaning, as he said it too to (Mouri) Ran who ended up helped the criminal. It’s a warm words that we can cherish in our daily lives. In terms of development, it’s also a hot episode in which *Sharon appears. I also like the scene that shows **Yukiko’s driving skill and Shinichi’s cheeks that turn red!
*a member of Black Organization who disguised as an actress, Yukiko's friend
**a retired actress, Shinichi's mom
2. Heiji’s Memories (Volume 50-51)
Kyomo: Shinichi and Heiji claim each other’s victory in a reasoning match. They were still novice, but it’s cool to challenge the match without cheating, it’s just like their character. I also like that part where Heiji is unaware that it was Shinichi but Shinichi is aware that it was Heiji who battled with him. (The case where they met for the first time when they're in middle high school, they crossed paths during the case but never actually introduce each other. They met again as high school detectives but Heiji still don't know that his past rival and Shinichi are the same person)
3. Touto Serial Bombing Case (Volume 36-37)
Kyomo: I like Conan’s line, “I’ll tell you if you want to know (about my identity), in the after-life”. I like the way he and *Takagi getting closer and how Conan acted snobbish! It’s cool when Conan can understand the answer only with some hints, pulling the next volume makes me excited!
*Police sergeant, his reputation as detective established by Conan because he always trusts Conan's judgments
HALL OF FAME - Moonlight Sonata Murder Case (Volume 7)
Kyomo: It’s absolutely enter my hall of fame. It was also repeated in the anime for episode 1000. It’s a major episode that everyone likes and by far the best ep for me, but I don’t dare to touch the subject! (LOL) //ikr this ep is jst soo sad//
3 selections of the beloved Haibara Ai!
Because he loves Haibara Ai, he listed his 3 favourite scenes of her! But for some reason he listed up to the 4th….? There is no end to his talks!? We feel your love~
1. Hidden Bathroom Secret (Volume 42)
Kyomo: I feel relieved seeing his facial expression when she’s listening to the message from his mother. Ai-chan is a poisonous drugs maker in the Black Organization, and been living a life with a confined heart…. I was relieved to see her gentle expression as a normal daughter.
2. The Mysterious Passenger and Bus Hijacking Case (Volume 29)
Kyomo: The member of Black Organization is inside the bus!? My heart skipped a bit at the scene where the frightened and trembling Haibara holds Conan’s hand. At the last, Conan was cool when he saved Haibara who tried to remain in the bus (with bomb inside).
3. The University Professor Murder Case (Volume 18-19)
Kyomo: When she said, “Why didn’t you help my sister?”…… It’s the moment when the mysterious and cool girl overflowed with younger sister feeling, and it made me deeply moved. I think Conan became more open to Haibara after he saw that figure… That’s also the moment when Ai-chan’s trust in Conan is growing.
EXTRA EDITION
Kyomo: After all I love it when Ai-chan pointing a gun……
Face to face with the raw manuscript of Reunion with the Black Organization (Volume 24)
We had him check the raw manuscript of his favourite Ai-chan’s episode as if he received it as the editor in charge! He’s looking seriously…..
Let’s look into his treasured goods!!

Kyomo: I cherish them a lot… and it’s the first time I wear it! I was at loss about which to buy, and ended up bought both because I couldn’t choose (LOL).

Kyomo: I started to cook recently, and I’ve been using this bag to go to supermarket instead of eco bag! Of course I use it with Conan’s face on the front!
During location shooting for an NTV’s variety show, I went to Tottori for a tour to get some shrine stamps. Because I had some time before return back to Tokyo I visited *Conan Tanteisha! I bought this bag and caps at that time!
