Earphones: Star Time

Dec 11, 2009 20:26

I was having a really bad mood today. I didn’t have time for breakfast; I was in a hurry since I was late for our rehearsals. And also, I barely had lunch. I only had a couple of bites from my sandwich when the choreographer called us all back for the dance rehearsals. Stupid guy, I thought.

I dunno but choreographer-san might have felt pity on us ten that he gave us an hour break before continuing, so I made the most of it. I went back to my room and opened a can of Coke and gulped the whole thing in my mouth without breathing. I haven’t realized I was that thirsty. The whole day of hardwork made me really feel wiped out. I sat back down on the sofa that was in the corner of my room. I dozed off.

It was a couple of minutes later that I woke up because I felt someone was fitting him or herself into the couch with me. I gently and tiredly opened my eyes, only to be surprised to see Keito by my side. Somehow, he managed to fit our bodies together in that small sofa. He looked tired but a faint smile was painted on his lips.

“Keito…” I whispered but he did not reply. “Wake up. It’s getting crowded here.”

Still, there was no response from him. He continued to snooze by my side. I poked his cheeks, but still got no answer. I poked him again. This is fun, I thought. But soon enough, I got bored of poking him. My hands became tired that instead of just poking him, my fingers were now brushing up his cheeks. I thought that he felt it since he flinched.

“Keito… can you move a bit? Please.” It’s getting hotter with you close to me.

Slowly, he opened his eyes and stared at me. “Uhhmmm.. sorry Dai-chan.”

“It’s okay. What happened anyway? Why are you in my room?” I asked.

“Hikaru’s practicing his guitar in our room. It kinda ticks me off. He’s loud and all, you know what I mean.” He rolled his eyes and sniggered.

“Yeah, that.” I murmured in a weak voice.

“So… can I?”

“What?”

“Can I stay here for a bit? I’m kind of tired and it’s quiet and stuff here.”

“Sure.” Something inside me was happy. I believe that something was located somewhere between my lungs.

“Thanks.” He swiftly made a dive for the couch and hugged the pillow that was lying around. I shook my head and groped for my iPod inside my bag. I searched for something really nice when I came across Star Time. It was his favorite. I don’t know why he liked it, but he does. There, I don’t even make any sense anymore. I hit play. Soon enough, I heard Hikaru sing. Hikaru. Maybe that was why he liked this. Somehow I felt a huge wave of jealousy whenever I thought about them together.

“Toki wa hito ni nani wo… Ima tsugeyou to shiteru…”

[Time is trying to tell people something right now…]

“Yeah right.” I rolled my eyes. I sat on the end of the sofa when Keito stirred.

“Hey, listening to something?” he asked.

I nodded half-heartedly.

“What is it?” he asked, interested. He was always fascinated in music that he’d most likely grab someone’s earphones and listen to whatever nonsense a person would be listening to.

“Uh..” I hesitated to answer. “S-Star Time.”

“Really?! Can I listen to it too?” he looked as if he was a baby about to be given a really big candy. His eyes widened that made him look stupidly cute.

I offered him one part of the earphones. He placed it to his ear and followed the song through.

“Dai-chan… Please sleep with me tonight.”

His voice was enticing that I didn’t even think twice. I made myself comfortable near him. He wrapped his arm around my shoulders that his arm became my pillow. Okay, I was more than comfortable now. It was uneasy, but it made me feel really happy. Well, happy could be a really big understatement on how I feel but I couldn’t think of any word else.

Keito started murmuring words, which I noticed were lyrics of the song.

“…Meguri aeta toki wo omou, Onaji kisetsu mezameru you ni…”

[When I think of the time we met, it’s like I’m waking up to that same season…]

He was closing his eyes while singing. He looked so serene, just like a Greek god. It made me lean in closer to him, feeling the hardness of his well-toned body on my back.

“Hateshinai itoshisa wa, kono kokoro ni tashika ni umareru…”

[An endless loveliness, was born for real in my heart]

“Kagayaki no hitotsu toshite bokura wa, Hoshi tachi no shita de rekishi wo kizamu…”

[We are just one of many sparkles… We etch out history under the stars…]

It was his favorite song. I programmed my iPod to repeat the same song over and over again, as if doing so would keep him wrapping his arms around me forever.
