11/04/2007 Sunday

I woke up and took a shower at 9:00AM. Then I made breakfast for everyone, tasty French toast; I am surprised at how well they turned out. We called Rob around 12:30PM because our plan was to go with him to an abandoned village and do some exploring. Taylor, Chris, Calaya, Charlie and I got to Kameoka station and met Rob at Mister Donuts sometime around 1:00PM. We walked to his apartment and got to see what it looked like and then we went downstairs to Jason and Jeff’s apartment to get Jeff since he wanted to go too. On our walk we ran into one of our teachers by accident and got to meet her husband and two kids who were so adorable. With the 30 minutes from the station and the walk to the village it probably took about 2 hours of walking, but it was worth because the demolished houses were pretty awesome. We went inside a lot of places… found some pretty interesting things such as mannequins, old newspapers and books, and a soccer ball. Honestly, the whole experience was pretty creepy, but that made it cooler. It was like the grudge, I thought we were all going to die because we entered the houses. We found some old newspapers and books. Calaya found a sweater which she took home to wash and wear and we joked that she would open a fashion line called "Abandoned House" and sell things that she picked off the street or out of the garbage. We saw a small shrine in the back, walked through a bamboo forest infested with huge spiders and came to a humongous graveyard. We walked around the area for quite a while and then decided to head back home around 6:00PM because we were losing light and had to go back through the bamboo forest to find our way home. On the long walk home Chris left us to go to a ramen restaurant and originally our plan was to eat at a Korean restaurant in Kameoka, however, we found the prices too high when we got there so we decided to go to a different place instead. With the help of my influence we chose to go to Coco’s and Chris joined us again a bit later. I only had 900 yen with me so I just got a quesadilla and a drink, but then people offered to spot me and Calaya, who was also out of money, for a dessert. So we split a caramel sundae-parfait thing. The food was great and not overly pricey, but as usual, not cheap either. Then Jeff and Rob walked us to the station and we said goodbye and took the next train to Chiyokawa. I separated from everyone for a while because I needed to go to Seven & iholdings to pull out some more cash, but after that I went home and started planning for my week off in Japan. Then I got to talk to Sal on skype for about 40 minutes but he had to go because he was at an internet café and it was going to cost him 1,500 won per hour. Then I spent some time watching Japanese MTV, which I leave on all the time. Most of the time they play songs popular in America, but it is worth it to hear what is new in Japan and to be able to see the Dir en grey commercial. I want their new single so badly!!!! Again I was on skype until 2AM.
