Fooling around with my Joomla install on my website and wiped my database. :P I have to remember how fragile it all is and be extra-careful.

However, I've found all kinds of nifty stuff:

JoomlaPlug - Joomla backup utility. $$

Integrating Coppermine and SMF into Joomla/Mambo - creating a single-login site using Coppermine Gallery, Simple Machines Forum and Joomla, with download links

JD-WordPress - integrating Joomla and WordPress. Well-documented.

Installing ExtCal on Joomla - Calendar module tutorial for Joomla, with download links

Building Websites With Joomla!: A step by step tutorial to getting your Joomla! CMS website up fast (Paperback) - book on Amazon.com $$

I think this will be the ideal solution for the Division's website. I think this will make it SO much easier for someone coming after me to maintain the site - despite the learning curve. Joomla provides the backend framework, letting the webmaster concentrate on the content and presentation.

I started out with XOOPS for content management, but the curve on it was even steeper than Joomla, and support wasn't nearly as plentiful or friendly. I couldn't figure out how to integrate anything into it without having to do a LOT of persnickety programming - if it could be managed at all.

Heh...I sent a support ticket to my hosting provider asking them to upgrade their Coppermine software last night, and it's already done. So far, I've been really happy with DownTownHost.com and the service they provide. It's not every company you get to speak directly with the owner and get support. :D
