After effects

The incident with the Chaos god had only just finished. Somehow they'd all gotten back to Earth; even Washuu wasn't entirely clear on how but she was very carefully not thinking about it too much. The short answer was good enough: that threat was over, and whatever had happened wouldn't likely happen again.

The Choushin had spent some time going back and forth into the near future and present, ironing out the wrinkles in the situation with her mortal self. She would be monitoring things for a short while before truly returning to her sealed state, but for all intents and purposes Washuu was a normal mortal; or rather, as normal as she could possibly be, all things considered. The difficult part had been getting the mortal part to accept that some questions should not be investigated.

The separation had to be shored up; there would be no more flashes of extraordinary insight or reference to the hidden kinship to Tsunami, and the borrowing of power would also no longer be possible. The celestial being would just have to watch things more carefully and make the required adjustments ahead of time retroactively.

The precaution of keeping Ryoko asleep had lasted quite some time; she wouldn't be allowed to wake until the gems were restored to their former state. It became clear to Washuu the scientist that her daughter's troubling sleep was not purely exhaustion, but might be the effects of exposing a third dimensional being to the pure chaos mixed with the strange behavior of the gems. Ryoko was out of action for now, and she wouldn't wake up until eight days after the event, confused but otherwise fine.

Actually, that probably described everyone who had been involved. Still, life would go on, even if the path it would travel was slightly altered. Or perhaps back on course.
