OOM: The first Tower of London

Dec 30, 2007 03:40

Still quite tipsy, Ryoko made sure that she would be able to get back to Milliways without disturbing Miniver and Pickles before she goes on the raid. In the time it took her to get to London (roughly an hour and a half) she'd formulated a half-assed sort of plan. Ryoko knew she'd have the element of surprise; the odds of them being ready for someone like her were pretty slim.

Things went great up to a point. She found the Tower of London easily enough, and stepped up to a guard-looking guy and asked where the Crown Jewels were kept. When he suspiciously asked her why she wanted to know, she told him she was going to borrow one of them for a bit.

To the guards' credit, they didn't start shooting at her until she marched past them and started heading up into the off-limits area. The first bullet to hit her was irritating, and if she hadn't still been intoxicated, she might have avoided the next three. "Hey, watch it!" She yelled at them, sending an energy blast to erupt at their feet, tossing them every which way. "Geez, I'm even going to bring it back!" The wounds expelled the bullets and closed up as she walked up to where the real goods are.

"Here we go!" She grabs the crown, holding it up triumphantly as she finally notices the blare of multiple alarms. "Oops."

She stuck her head through the wall to look down. The number of police and army types that had arrived was impressive, but Ryoko hadn't really meant to start this much havoc. "Time to go." With a few teleports and some fast flying, she's long gone, leaving the British police to wonder what the hell just happened. Even with the security videos they can't make sense of it.

"Good thing I get to try that again," Ryoko mused. "I can do way better than that."

She snuck carefully back to Milliways, careful not to disturb the injured man or his doting boyfriend. From what she'd heard, they didn't need any more trouble. Besides, Ryoko didn't want to ruin the surprise. Back in the bar, she popped up to her room and tossed the crown unceremoniously on her bed before heading right back downstairs.

The raid in her own world would have to be done a lot more circumspectly anyway; she was getting used to not having a price on her head and wanted to keep it that way.

In fact, the whole thing was kind of anti-climactic. All she really had to do was cut the power with a carefully placed energy blast, phase up through the tower keeping herself hidden within the walls, find the crown, and 'port away with it. If it weren't for the power outage, they might not have even noticed anything amiss for a few hours. As it was, the crown would only be missing for a few hours, as she went right back to Milliways, effectively stopping the clock in her little corner of the multiverse.

Careful, it turns out, is boring.
