Iwo Jima

Yesterday night I happened to watch Letters from Iwo Jima (硫黄島からの手紙). On Youtube o_O

I know it's strange, right? A whole movie on YT, woh, I didn't asked so much.
I don't remember how I happened to search a 硫黄島からの手紙 trailer on YT (I think I was searching arashi vids, then remember I wondered something about Nino's name, and on his wiki page this movie obviouslty figured on his movie list. hum. anyways) but I firstly searched with the English name, French name, then decided with the original name. I clicked on what I thought was a trailer and noticed how long it was (and I concluded I was watching the movie lol).
16 parts of about 9 minutes each.

so! so.

I was so much touched watching this. It's exactly the point of view I wanted to show in my 2nd WW novel but watching it was deeper than any novel or book.
fyi the Iwo Jima battle was on the Island of Iwo Jima, in Japan, where the Japanese were fighting to keep it against the Americans.
I read a lot about this, I also read a lot about the life of the soldiers, but seeing those suicide rituals, and any-kamikaze-related things made me think a lot.
Saigo who's the main caracter shows really well the normal Japanese soldier during that period; the one who didn't decided to fight, who's pissed off of all this and who has a wife and a baby waiting for him (he's played by Ninomiya if you're still searching the link between arashi, him and this movie).
In the beginning there are a few jokes here and there (like the "dead from honorable dysentrie"-thing to reply to that gy who said that they'll all die with honour. Which is sad but funny at the time.)

I saw I could buy it in a store here so I'll go and buy it as soon as I can~
