This musical is everything I expected it to be, and surprisingly more; I had high expectations.
I'm afraid Der Tod has been pushed to the shadows for me in favour of the colourful narrator and assasin Lucheni, played by Serkan Kaya. That man has the most amazing vocal range I've ever heard. And he's so funny, and so silly, and... gah, I sound like a gushing fangirl.
I am a gushing fangirl.
The DVD disc itself is very interesting; double sided X3 the first act on one side of the disc, then you flip the cd over to watch the second act X3 neato, but it means that if I burn it, teh recipient will be getting two discs XD; SO. Who wants a copy of Elisabeth?
The menu has no extra features bar different audio options and it's rather plain, but meh. Who cares?
I quickly grew bored of Der Schatten Werden Langer as I'd simply seen it one too many times, and have fallen in love with Lucheni's song Kitsch! at the start of Act II and Rudolph's suicide further down the track, even if it's frustratingly short.
Ahh, what can I say. I got this DVD in the mail two days ago and I've watched it about twelve times. I love it.
