Next Time on Jerry Springer...

Ok, you'd think in this day and age people would understand that corporate america doesn't care about your personal space or how you would like to be respected, but one girl at work simply took matters into her own hands and caused such a racket at work today that the rest of training is pretty much under tight supervision like a prison yard.

To explain a bit of the background...I usually prefer to work temp jobs because I like to move around so that I don't get bored doing the same 9 to 5 job for 20 years and decide to regret it later screaming my "Shoudda Wouldda Coulddas". So I recently joined another temp agency near Plano called Kelly Services. You may have heard of it, since Kelly Girls is a well known catch phrase for over 60 years in the office industry.
One of my first assignments with Kelly has been a 3 month project in a G&E call center for JCPenney. During training, I have met some interesting co-workers. To get to the point, our trainer is not much older than me and has a heavy Puerto Riccan accent. His intentions are good, of course, but he lacks focus on the job at hand, and the class takes every advantage of that.
During our last week of training, the stress factor has reached the roof. The class feels they have not reached their potential in training, well let me think...how about LISTENING TO THE INSTRUCTOR!!! Some girls are blattently breaking the rules and using cell phones while in security restricted areas, and coming in 2 hours late to class and simply stating their baby's daddy was giving them sh*t. Today was the breaking point.
The class was on high stress alert this whole day, and just a few hours before the end of class we all felt like sh*t was going to hit the fan. It came in the form of a young attitude driven girl. She seemed to not care from the start of training, and it progressed into an ego drive of, "I don't care what anyone says..if I can get away with it then that's alright with me!" She expressed this while talking back to the trainer when being asked to pay attention in class. This didn't boad well with the other assistant trainer who was sitting in on the class. Since our young Puerto Riccan chose not to stand up for himself, our more experienced trainer took it upon herself to stand up and demand respect from this young girl...at which, the girl gave some lip in responce which made everyone turn away and head for the hills for a brief recess while the trainers called security to escort the girl from the building. At this point I was heading out of the room like most of the class, and the female trainer passed me to have a talk with the trouble maker. Once the trainer got into the girl's personal space and spoke to her in a tone like a parent ought to when your child just told you to, "Sit your ass down Bi!ch, I ain't talking to you...", the girl went off and did the worst thing possible...she brushed her hand across the trainer's face and made threatening gestures. For anyone who has every been in a professional work environment, you know how ever angry you get..you never NEVER lay a hand on another person. After that little stunt, that girl was OUTTA HERE!! But it didn't end there..oh no!
Once security escorted the girl out of class, the classmmates themselves divided into clicks and didn't want to enter the classroom. Some sided with the teacher, while others sided with the girl's opinion of protecting her personal space. At this point, the trainer's were elsewhere and I needed to find them ASAP. once I advised them of the near political debate disrupting class...our group was met by pretty much all the supervisor heads of the building for an emergency breakdown of protocals (forget class, this was going to take awhile). These supervisors not only tried to be as polite as possible about explaining the sheer logic of personal space in the office as lamen sense, but they also made it quite clear that this outburst could very well have fired the entire class and killed the temp project all together. This obviously reflected poorly on the remaining class members, but they apparently made up for it later. After all the frustration in class, as people were leaving for the day, I could hear murmurs of concern to return the next day. Since then maybe a couple more people have not shown up. What a selfish pointless thing for someone to do...
