Summary: Ueda's hair is gone! A certain Osaka man was totally not expecting this.
"What the fuck have you done to your head?!"
Nishikido Ryo's first words when he opened the front door were not quite what Ueda had hoped for. For a moment Nishikido stood there, mouth hanging open in shock, his hand still on the handle of his apartment door as he stood gawping at Ueda. Still out in the hallway, Ueda shifted his weight from one foot to the other, reaching up to rub anxiously at the back of his neck - an action which still felt weird, after so many years of longish idol hair. "So…" Ueda said, with an anxious grin, "…are you going to let me in?"
Nishikido said nothing, taking a step backwards as though on auto-pilot and pulling the door open more so that Ueda could step inside his apartment. Ueda walked in, treading on the heels of his boots to help toe them off before stepping out of the genkan and up into the main room of Nishikido's apartment. "So I had all my hair cut off," he began, turning and automatically reaching up to rub his shaved head with one hand.
"Yes, I can see that," Nishikido responded curtly, shutting the front door and following Ueda into the apartment. "It makes you look ugly."
"What?" Ueda looked taken aback. "What do you mean?"
"I mean, I know you were talking about changing your hair, but this is you we're talking about. You've had the same colour for like, four years and every time you talked about changing it you never did. What the hell, Tatsuya!" Nishikido's expression turned from shock to anger. "You should have talked to someone first! They would've told you what a totally stupid idea it was!"
"I did talk to someone else," Ueda snapped, expression closing off and turning cold. "I talked to my manager, when we discussed my drama role."
This pulled Nishikido up short. "Drama role?"
"My character's meant to be kansai-jin," Ueda said, and he turned and headed back toward Nishikido's front door. He began to shove his feet back into his boots. "I was going to ask you to help me work on my kansai accent." His boots were on; Ueda pulled his cellphone from his coat pocket and began scrolling through his contacts. "But I guess Masami-san will be free, or maybe Kikuoka-kun will agree to hang out…"
"Wait, wait, Tatsuya!" Nishikido wavered in the hallway, toes curling around the edge of the step down into the genkan. "You never said anything about a drama," he said, not meeting Ueda's eyes. "I never knew anything about a drama." As Ueda turned back, Nishikido looked away, unable to meet Ueda's eyes. He was embarrassed, Ueda knew, and instead of the cold hurt he began to feel himself thaw a little. Nishikido looked back at Ueda then, somewhat awkward. "...Start again?"
"Start again," Ueda said, then opened the front door and stepped back out into the corridor. The door shut behind him, and he turned on his heel, raising a hand to knock at it again.
The front door opened, revealing a slightly bashful Nishikido Ryo. "Hey, Tat-chan," Nishikido said, grinning despite himself. "So I see you've cut off all your hair."
"Yeah," Ueda said, grinning back. "I know it looks kind of weird, but it's for my new drama. Will you help me practice my kansai-ben for the role?"
Nishikido nodded and pulled the door wider, stepping back to let Ueda enter. "Sure, come in," he said. "Since it's you, I've got plenty of time."
