BWahahaha...
I don't know why, but I'm always rather satisfied with myself when a succesful hack goes of well. After a few weeks of research, I managed to get a leaked Radio chipset Firmware release for my phone. Along with that, I went in whole hog to get a customized new OS Firmware load. So now instead of the stock WindowsMobile 6.0 with a bunch of crap from the vendor, I now have a clean, customized and speedy load of WindowsMobile 6.1. I loaded back on a few vendor apps and customizations, as they are handy. I also loaded all of my snazzy custom SPB shell software, GoogleMaps and GoogleSearchBar. I managed to find a scraped copy of the full thing for WindowsLiveMobile (IE: MSN Messenger tie in for data connection on smartphone).
The update does a lot of nice little things. New IE in WinMob6.1 can do zooming better and supposedly has tabs (haven't tested out tabs yet). This means the built-in WiFi will definitely be more functional, although when the new OperaMobile comes out, I may spring for that. SMS is now threaded, and integrated with MMS. So it all flows together. The big thing I missed from my Treo was threaded SMS. Better OS memory handling in 6.1, although applications are still prone to self-bloating. The damned cyclical self-reboot when a SD card is plugged in on reboot has been fixed. The keyboard driver fix for certain old WinMob applications (so I don't type random symbols and numbers instead of letters). Lotsa little things here and there. Plus this way I clean out the cruft from several apps I tried and disliked.
