Yamada Ryosuke is confused.
He’s been staring at Arioka Daiki for fifteen minutes now. Specifically, he’s been staring at Arioka Daiki and Inoo Kei.
The way he feels about their interactions unsettles him.
Weird, he thought.
Still, Yamada being the perfectionist that he is, decided not to dwell on it and go back to focusing on their dance practice instead. Between album and single releases, touring, and drama shoots, Yamada barely has the time to dwell on anything really.
That doesn’t stop him from staring a bit too hard on the duo, occasionally, though.
Sometimes, he wonders if this is really the life he’d want for himself. If he was being honest, he could’ve pursued a career on football and he’d have far more freedom than being a Johnny.
But being a Johnny is his life now, and Yamada Ryosuke does not half-ass things. If anything, he’s a perfectionist through and through.
Act, sing, dance, repeat.
On most days, that’s what Yamada Ryosuke does. His autopilot, if you will. So on days where he doesn’t do any of those things, he’s left alone with his thoughts. Thoughts that quite honestly, just leave him confused so he just decides not to think anymore. To go on autopilot instead.
The day Chinen Yuri confessed to him, Yamada Ryosuke didn’t really know how to react. For one, the younger member is someone dearly close to him but as far as he’s concerned, what he feels is more of a brotherly love toward the latter rather than that of an affection towards a lover.
Still, he doesn’t have the heart to reject him. Call it selfishness, but he loved the attention Chinen gives him. And for some reason, it makes him happy to shower his affections towards the group’s acrobat.
Over time, Yamada realized that even though he consciously thinks of Chinen as no more than a brother, subconsciously that might not be the case.
Must be nice, Yamada thought seeing Daiki and Inoo openly holding hands and might he dare say, flirting, as they shoot their Christmas FC video.
He is not as open as the two, but he does want to hold Chinen’s hand too. If he wasn’t such a perfectionist, he wouldn’t really care about whatever shit anyone says if he gets just a tad bit touchy with Chinen. Hell, they even have fangirls rooting for them.
He realized it now, but what he feels for Daiki and Inoo has evolved to nothing more than petty jealousy.
Jealous of the fact that they both can do these things on camera and no one will think twice about it.
Jealous that no matter how lovey-dovey they get, it will not end up on the front page of a tabloid newspaper.
Chinen did hold his hand in the end, but Yamada can’t help but feel something heavy settle on the pit of his stomach.
