Someone should brick me for posting an AkaKame fanfic on Pi's birthday but oh well...
Title : Try
Author : ryo_anne
Word count : 1005
Pairing : Akame (friendship)
Rating : G
Summary : Perhaps the fact that Kame was not guesting at any of Jin's You&Jin shows are not favourable by neither of them.
Author's note : It's Jin's first solo concerts, not the LA one - just in case anyone is wondering. ^^
“How is your concert planning going, Jin?” Koki poked his head beside Jin’s, peering at the paperwork.
Jin hummed in response as his eyes darted along the lines in concentration. He had always wanted to make things according to his way and now he had got the chance; he was going to give it his all. He found it funny for him to be working that hard, considering his name was not Kamenashi Kazuya - and remembering Kame made he remembered something else. He turned to his back.
“Kazu?”
Kame turned from his drama script. “Yes?”
“Come here for a sec.”
The younger guy laid down his script obediently and went to Jin’s other side. “What is it?”
Jin showed Kame a list of dates. “Which day you can come?”
Kame took the paper to examine it more closely. The word ‘Guest’ was written at the top, followed by a table with dates and empty spaces for names of guests.
Koki raised an eyebrow at Jin. “You are inviting Kame first?”
“Of course, he’s my best friend, “Jin answered coolly.
The answer made Kame smiled; Jin was not that honest usually - or he just rarely got chance to be honest at all. But the matter needed his attention more.
“You are inviting me, Jin?” he asked for confirmation.
Jin rolled his eyes in you-already-know-so-don’t-ask way. “Yes, I am, what else am I asking you for? I know you’re busy with that drama, so just pick a day. I can arrange the others’.”
Kame sighed. People might think Jin had changed a lot but Kame thought Jin still had the ‘Bakanishi’; innocent, silly side of him. To think that the management would ever allow Kame to guest on Jin’s show was just absurd; Jin should know that.
“Jin…you know they won’t approve this, right?”
The A looked up to meet Kame’s eyes. “Can’t I just try?”
Kame shook his head exasperatedly. “I don’t want you to get your hope high. They might say you can do things in your way, but they won’t agree on this for sure.”
“Just a pick a date, Kamenashi.”
Jin’s voice did not sound right and Koki thought he ought to leave the pair before anything happened. Kame and Jin had been fighting a lot this lately; more than they used to be and Koki had always sided Kame but after a while, Koki realized how Jin was not completely wrong and Kame was not actually right. While Jin seemed like he was rebelling, actually he only found it stupid to act according to how the management wanted. Kame was opposite; he agreed on everything and did the job willingly enough to annoy his best friend. Koki realized it was better to not taking any side and went to check on his little brother instead.
Perhaps Kame was in no mood for a fight, as well as he heaved a sigh and put the paper down. “Wait, I get my planner.”
Kame was not surprised when he saw Jin walked back into the dressing room grumpily when he was about to leave the room. Jin looked up just in time to catch Kame’s eyes. He averted his gaze at once; his paperwork crumpled a little bit in his fist.
“They don’t approve it, do they?” Kame asked when Jin passed him.
Jin’s fist tightened on the doorknob. “Yeah,” he answered in gritted teeth. “You don’t have to say ‘Told you so.’, I know.”
“I don’t plan to say that,” the K said with a sigh. “It’s okay, Jin - I don’t mind.”
“I know you don’t mind. You never mind anything about me nowadays.” The words somehow came out bitterly from Jin’s mouth.
Kame turned to face Jin, his expression softened. “Don’t say that. It’s not like we can do anything about this, okay?”
Jin shrugged. “No, if you want to stay as the company’s pet.”
“Jin…”
“Yeah, I know; you just don’t want to get into trouble. You better go, then; it’s not good to be tardy for the filming.” Jin gave him a little wave before turning the doorknob to enter the room.
Kame sighed and stopped the door from closing. “You know I am supporting everything you do, right?”
Jin made a nonchalant face.
A sigh again from Kame. “Okay, okay… I’ll come. In disguise, of course. So, stop acting like a big baby and get me a free ticket without them knowing.”
Jin’s expression changed at once. “You will come?”
“Yeah. We have to make sure people won’t notice me, though or it’ll be bad.”
“This company is being stupid; what is there to hide? It is more suspicious when things are done like this - you are the only one who wouldn’t get to guest!” Jin ranted as he rolled his eyes.
Kame smiled at childishness. “Oh well. That’s enough. Don’t you go blabbing to anyone about me coming or the deal is off.”
“You can go as a girl, Kazu! Like you are one of my fangirls…”
“Jin…” Kame’s voice vibrated dangerously.
Jin stopped immediately and put on sober face. “Okay. Thanks, Kazu.”
“No problem and…” Kame stopped for a while and took a deep breath. “Thanks for trying. It means a lot.”
The older of the two drew a small smile. “The concert is called ‘You&Jin’, you know. Yuujin; friends. I want all my friends to be there - you, especially.”
Kame smiled as well, though his smile, too, didn’t reach his eyes; remembering how they rarely treated each other like friends this lately - they were more like rivals for attention. It could not be helped as they were both in this kind of industry where they had to shine the most to be the best. There was the restriction from the company, too and they had been very obedient about that, especially Kame. That was why
Jin’s try really meant a lot.
No matter how absurd, how silly the try was, it proved they were still friends and nothing had really changed between them; something Kame had been glad for.
I hope that's okay enough. For those who commented on my previous
Chance, really thanks! I'm sorry for not replying each one of them, though. ><" Comments and corrections are welcome for this fic too, onegaishimasu.
Anyway, I really like Kame's performance of On My Mind. The song is nice; I think it's already in my 25 Most Played Songs in my iPod. LOL. And I saw a post regarding this on Akame's community just now but since I first listened to the song, I've thought of the possibility it was Jin who sang the "What a fool I was..." line. It doesn't sound like Kame, and the accent resembles Jin's. If it's really him, I think it is so nice of him to help Kame. Kame is not great in English, imo. Every time he sings "I kneel to pray." in Wilds of My Heart, what I hear is "I need to pay." LOL.
By the way ...

Oh Yuu, why so pretty? I don't really like yellow but why I always end up liking those whose colour image is Yellow? LOL.
Why am I doing this on Pi's birthday? LOL. I don't feel like making him a birthday post but I finally change my Kame wallpaper (the screencaps taken from YamaNade ep 1 when he had the short hair for host-in-disguise, which I have been using since the drama started) to a NEWS one and I am downloading his Propose Daisakusen (for my friend, actually) so I am not neglecting him whatsoever, right? XDD
HAPPY 25th BIRTHDAY, DEAR TOMO ~
Hopefully Jin remembers your birthday this year!
