Summary : Hikaru, Yamada and Chinen (and Hasshi) went to Yabu's stage play. That's all, I suppose. Ah, and Hikaru granted Yabu's wish as he popped into Yabu's dressing room before the show.
“Yabu, try to relax a bit…” Nishikiori patted the junior’s shoulder. “You look so nervous!”
Yabu tried to flash a smile at his senior but failed. His hands felt very clammy.
Uekusa smiled. “Well, this is not the first time you stand on the stage, right? You’ve performed in Tokyo Dome twice!”
“It’s not the same!” was what Yabu would want to say if Uekusa was not his senior. He tried to smile again and looked at his watch.
He’s late….
“Here we are!” Hikaru exclaimed when they reached Theatre Creation at last.
Yamada looked at his watch. “There are still 15 minutes. We arrived on time.”
Chinen leaded them to enter the hall. It was way smaller than any of their concert venue. He pulled out their tickets to check the seat.
“Where are our seats, Chii?” asked Yamada, peering at the tickets.
Hikaru tapped the two on shoulders. “Look, you two go and sit down first, okay? I am going to see Yabu for a while. I’ll be back soon.”
Before the younger boys could say anything, Hikaru turned and strode away from them quickly. He could hear Yamada trying to say something but it was cut off by Chinen’s “Hey, Hasshi!".
Hikaru glanced at his back and saw Yamada turned his head to the direction Chinen had pointed to so fast that he nearly cracked his neck.
“You…what are you doing here?”
“My name is Yaotome Hikaru.” Hikaru said to the guards when he reached the backstage.
The guard smiled at him. “Yabu-kun asked me to let you in. You better hurry, though; the show will start soon.”
Hikaru grinned at the guard and fasten his steps after a “Thank you”. He walked pass several rooms before arrived at his destination; Yabu’s dressing room. He knocked and Yabu’s manager opened the door, smiling.
“You should do something; he’s so nervous,” she said, before leaving the two alone.
Yabu looked up and saw Hikaru standing on the doorway, grinning. He sighed in relief. “You come…”
Hikaru closed the door behind him and approached Yabu. “Of course I come. I promised you, right?”
“But you said you might not come last night…” Yabu pouted.
Laughing, Hikaru leaned on the table, arms folded. “I was joking.”
Yabu rolled his eyes before leaning beside him, arms folded as well. “Don’t joke about something like that…”
Hikaru laughed again. “Yama-chan and Chii are here, too. I think Hasshi is, as well. He probably thought he would meet Takaki here.”
“Nah…” Yabu disagreed. “He wants to support A.B.C., of course.
“Ah, that’s right…But he is a fanboy of you, too.”
Yabu chuckled. “So only you, Yama-chan and Chii come? What about the others?”
Hikaru looked at his former leader for a while before averting his gaze. “If you mean Inoo, he couldn’t make it today; his professor suddenly called and said he had to come. He was furious about that. But if he comes, I wouldn’t be here; I would let him to accompany you.”
“I didn’t mean Inoo in particular, Hikaru.” Yabu sighed. “And I only let you visit me, okay? We’ve talked about this…”
“Well, we did but…” Hikaru let his sentence unfinished. “Anyway, the others have something to do. They all wish you all the best, though.”
Yabu nodded. He stared at the wall opposite to him before saying slowly, “Shoon and Taiyou couldn’t make it, too, right?”
“Hmm…”Hikaru sighed. “But they promised to watch the other show.”
“I know. Shoon called me earlier. Taiyou sent me an e-mail, too.” Yabu tried to sound casual but he could not hide the bitterness, not from Hikaru, anyway.
Hikaru opened his mouth to say something but he was interrupted by a knock on the door.
“Yabu, they want you to stand by now.” The manager’s voice came from behind door.
Yabu jumped to his feet, suddenly look nervous again. Hikaru smiled and gave his best friend a hug. “You will do just fine. You’ve practised and everything…”
“Hmm... but this is so different with everything we’ve done, Hachibee…” Yabu sighed.
Hikaru broke the hug and patted Yabu on the head, careful not to ruin the hairstyle. “You will do okay. You are Yabu Kouta, remember? Now…go and do your best.”
Yabu nodded feebly. He wiped his sweaty hands on his trousers. “I…I’ll go then.”
Hikaru smiled and nodded. He offered his hand to do the handshake that Jin had taught them before. “Off you go. All the best.”
“Did you see Yabu-kun?” Chinen asked as Hikaru’s bottom touched the seat.
Hikaru nodded and chuckled. “He’s so nervous.”
“Eh, you can go to the backstage? I want to see Gocchi, too…” Hasshi whined. Glaring at Yamada, he added, “He would love to see his Ryosuke…”
Yamada glared back and turned to Chinen. “Chii, why does he have to sit with us?”
Chinen sighed. “Because that is his seat. And you should thank me for agreeing to sit between you two; this is supposed to be your seat.”
Yamada looked like he wanted to retort but Hikaru interfered. “Now, now, Yama-chan…the show is starting. Hasshi, behave or Goseki will hear about this.”
Hasshi muttered something like, “Gocchi won’t scold me…” but fixed his gaze to the stage nevertheless.
As expected, the play went all well. Yabu did a good job with his role, and so did the other casts. It seemed that Yabu had told the staffs that Hikaru, Yamada, Chinen and Hasshi were coming because they were introduced after the main show. They all stood up when their names were called and gave a little wave.
Hikaru glanced at Yabu who, in coincidence, was looking at him. They exchanged smiles and looked away shyly. Yabu wished them good luck in the up-coming Johnny’s Sport Day and the others ensured him they would do their best.
Hikaru has enjoyed the play, but the best part came after the main show. During the show time, he suddenly heard music he was very familiar to, but had not listened for quite some times now. He fixed his sitting and turned slightly pale. It couldn’t be…
Hasshi turned at him. “Hikaru-kun, isn’t this…” while Yamada bit his lips; trying to remember the song with this melody.
Chinen looked around, perplexed. He thought he had heard the music somewhere, too but he couldn’t remember where.
“Just Wanna Lovin’ You…” Hikaru muttered softly as Yabu began to sing their old song.
“D-Didn’t he tell you, Hikaru-kun?” Hasshi asked tentatively after Yabu finished the song that he, Hasshi used to back dance for.
Hikaru shook his head, smiling. “Nope, he didn’t. He must think it’s amusing to surprise me. Yabu…”
At the end of the play, when the casts were about to leave the stage, Hikaru caught Yabu’s eyes. He smiled and made a “don’t-forget-to-eat” gesture. Yabu replied his smile and nodded.
When Hikaru moved to leave the hall with the others, Hasshi pouted. “Eh, you are not going to the backstage? I thought I would follow you this time…”
“Sorry, Hasshi.” Hikaru smiled apologetically. “But it’s already late and you guys need to go home. You can just call Goseki later.”
Hasshi continued to pout all the way. Yamada wanted to snort but Chinen gripped his arm hard, determined to maintain the peace.
“It was a good play, right?” Chinen asked to no one in particular.
“Yes, it was!” It was Hasshi who answered first. “I would love to go again later! Perhaps on the last day…”
Yamada made a mental note to not going on the last day.
Hikaru nodded. “It is. Well, they all have worked so hard.”
“You didn’t come and watch our Dream Boys, though…” Hasshi said accusingly. “I became friends with Subaru-kun. Fumikyun said Subaru-kun is scary but he is so kind…”
No one would be scary to you, Hikaru thought but he grinned. “I didn’t work much with him so I don’t really know. So you are close with him now?”
Hasshi nodded happily. "Sometimes I will send him mails. Ah, I should send one to him now and tell him about Yabu-kun’s stage play!”
While Hasshi fumbled with his jacket pocket, Hikaru felt a vibration and remembered he had set his phone to silent mode. He fished his phone out from his pocket and flipped it open.
“It’s a success! We are going to celebrate now~ Why don’t you join us?” - Yabu
Hikaru smiled and replied immediately. “I have to send the others home. Just enjoy yourself. Good job, anyway. P.S. I kept my promise to come and accompany you in the dressing room; you should reward me later. ^0^ “
“Hikaru-kun…” Yamada called sheepishly. “I’m hungry…can’t we stop at a restaurant or something before going home?”
Chinen nodded in agreement while Hasshi was still busy composing his mail to Subaru. Hikaru glanced at his watch and considered the time.
“Well, I suppose we can grab some fast food or something…. My treat, of course.” He added the last it as Chinen started to make puppy eyes. “Hasshi, come along?”
“As if he would decline a treat…” Yamada snorted, earning a nudge from Chinen and a glare from the other Ryosuke.
Hikaru laughed at his juniors. It had been such a good day for him so he would let them bickering for a change.
Well, I hope I have made myself justice. Sorry for some RyosukeVSRyosuke there; I really want to write about them somehow. xD Please take note that this is purely fiction; even though they did come to Yabu's play.
Comments would make Hasshi me happy yo!
