This is the 6th year I've done this meme/retrospection thing. Must keep up the tradition, even if I didn't manage to post it on the 31st!
Best memories of 2010, in no particular order:
1) "You're hired!"
2) Spending ten days or so with
karenmiller in May.
3) Easter with
readerjane and her family.
4) Early October with
Airekel in Texas.
5) The trip to Myrtle Beach with family in July. That was awesome, particularly playing with Eugene.
6) Birth of my great-great niece in October.
7) Making a whole pile of new friends through the Bones fandom.
8) Hart Hanson re-tweeting the link to my second Bones blog post. (Yeah, I am just that easily amused.)
9) Realizing that I have so many more 'best' memories than worst ones. (Cheating here, since technically I'm realizing that in 2011, but hey...)
Worst three memories:
1) Oldest Nephew's heart failure this past week.
2) Finally hitting a point where I knew I was - for the short term, at least, - completely lost with the novel.
3) Not getting the library job I interviewed for in August. (Not sure this one counts, since I'm now completely, totally grateful I didn't get it. The one I did get is a much better fit, all the way around.)
Three biggest accomplishments:
1) Loss of about twenty pounds.
2) The non-fiction blog posts I've been doing for
http://bonestheory.wordpress.com/3) Finding my feet so quickly at the new job. (I'm not sure this counts, since New Job is similar in so many ways to Old Job, but hey, different software, different people, some difference in responsibilities...)
Biggest failure:
Hmm. Think this one's a toss-up between not losing more weight and in (temporarily, at least) abandoning the novel.
Looking ahead:
Three goals for 2011:
1) Continue the weight loss. I used a gift card last week to buy more Wii games, since that seems to be a large part of my success. I have a new Pilates one that's getting good reviews, and a new 'skiing' one. My plan is to continue doing yoga/pilates/step-cardio in the morning before work, and then do another half hour of something fun and active in the evenings, at least 3x a week. Plus continue the same food plan I was following when I lost the weight back in the spring.
2) Begin serious work on the new novel. I was making progress on this in October when I started work, and it sort of fell by the wayside.
3) Begin saving money (now that the holidays are over) so I can think of visits to friends once my vacation time kicks in. :)
Things I'm most anticipating:
1) At the moment? Going to Chicago next weekend to see friends. :)
2) The return of Bones after its winter hiatus. (I've mentioned the last ep we saw was important, right? Just a few hundred times?)
3) Birth of niece's son around Feb. 20. I know, I know. I have too many nieces and nephews (and greats, and great-greats) to keep track of. But she and I are really close.
What I realize, every year, is that so often my best moments are tied to people reading this LJ, and this year's no different. I love you all and am looking forward to seeing as many of you as I can in 2011.
Happy New Year!
