So...last night's new Bones ep was pretty awesome, actually, in terms of character development. Overall, I've been pleased with how nearly every ep this season has had something that was a follow-up to the events of last season's last few eps (I *love* consequences) but last night's was pretty major. And I just really love Stephen Fry's guest spots. (I'll give the November sweeps one thing: you tend to get some good TV out of it.)
After it went off, I spent an hour or two working through what others were saying in various forums. I'm looking forward to re-watching the ep as soon as I get some time alone with the DVR. (Nephew likes Bones and is quite willing to indulge me with it, but is, um, not quite so willing to watch me endlessly watch the same ep. LOL.)
And then I switched fandoms, and started reading a very long Buffy fic. (Actually, a series of three by the same author -- a story and two sequels.) It's AU and pairs two people I normally wouldn't pair, so I'm a little mystified as to why I read it. But I couldn't stop. Not only was it well written, the AU aspects were logically thought out to explain their plausibility. And by the end of it, it had me rethinking my take on one of the major characters. You don't get that very often from fanfic.
But here's the problem: I didn't finish reading until 3:30AM.
I can't sleep past 7:30AM, no matter what.
I don't function well on four hours of sleep.
*Props eyes opens*
Suspect I'm not going to get much SQL-study done today. Suspect I'm not going to get much writing done, either. (Given that at that moment I'm finally rewriting the scene from which the idea for the novel sprang in the first place -- one of my first fanfics turned into an original work -- and I'm discovering that the scene really does have to be re-worked in a major way, maybe I wouldn't have actually gotten much writing done, anyway.) (And yeah, duh. Different characters, different conflicts, different everything. You'd think I would have figured that out beforehand, right?)
So maybe some time just sitting around musing on the color of the walls might not be a bad thing, as I try to sort out what these two characters need to discover in the scene, as opposed to the what the characters in the original fanfic did.
Nephew really, really wants to see 2012. He will go see films by himself, but we're heading into holiday season without his mom (and his birthday is in a couple of weeks) so I sort of think I should go with him. As for me, I can do without another Emmerich disaster film, but on the other hand, it's probably about my speed today: "Oooh, look. Explosions. Pretty."
Is it time for bed yet? *huge yawn*
