(no subject)
Gah. It's not often that I feel like I read too fast, but I've been feeling like that lately. Normally I'm glad since it's very useful for school, but I've been home for over a month without a job so it feels like I've been tearing through all my favorite fics, and also favorite books (at least, those I haven't read too recently to be interested in them again right now).
It's just...very difficult to find something to read that will occupy me for very long. I don't often keep count of how much I read in a given amount of time, but I remember that a couple weeks ago I read about 1750 pages in two days, and I'm not sure what that is in word count but a couple months ago I read 700,000 words also in two days, so they're probably about equivalent.
I'm not getting bored, since I do have other things I do and anyway I don't really get bored, but it's just sorta...aggravating. I want things to last, but I can't really slow down too much or I'll just annoy myself.
I try to find new things to read, but that can be difficult too. I read in many different fandoms, and therefore I am actually very fond of ff.net. Of course the stuff there is about 95% crap, but depending on fandom size, the remaining 5% of good stuff can actually be a good number of fics. It's just hard to wade through the crap to find them. I usually find it worth it to go through each of my fandoms every several months to look for some good new stuff, but when I'm craving a particular fandom and it hasn't been long enough since I went through it for it to have delivered on the good new stuff, I'm pretty much stuck rereading favorites, but then I go through those too fast! XD
Probably I just need to do more other stuff. *sigh* How long before I go to England again?
