Home again. Also, just watched the DW Christmas special.

OMG. OMG OMG OMG. A HAPPY EPISODE.

It wasn't a stellar episode. David Morrissey was the best part--he was complete awesome. But apart from him, it was mostly just the little touches that drew me in. Showing all of the Doctors (HI, ONE THROUGH NINE. I'VE MISSED YOU.). Whistling. The "TARDIS" being a balloon. The Doctor actually being emotionally honest and saying that his companions break his heart.

(On that note, I've seen a few people expressing slight annoyance with him because, at least for Rose, it was partly his own fault that his heart was broken there. Yeah, it sorta is since he did make the decision to leave her and Ten II together, but honestly, she would have broken his heart sooner or later anyway. I am all for some-sort-of-immortal!Rose in fic and fanon, but in canon it seems she has her human lifespan. Rose would have broken his heart if she'd stayed anyway, even if it wasn't what she wanted. I guess he effected his own heartbreak there, but it would have seemed to him like heartbreak now or heartbreak later. The heartbreak was inevitable, so even if that statement was a bit of revisionist history, I can't blame him, or be annoyed with him. Hah, big change from my immediate thoughts after JE. XD)

For the plot, I was a bit reminded of the Two serial The Invasion. Still, enjoyable story. I think this episode is now jostling with TRB for my second-favorite Christmas special. (Need I say, TCI is first? :p)

But just...omg. It was happy. I really started hoping that it was going to be happy when the Doctor and Jackson and Rosita were getting the kids out, and they were actually getting them out. And then the Doctor saved Jackson's son! And then he saved London without excessive deaths, even if he couldn't save poor Ms. Hartigan. (I liked her. She was interesting. I don't actually have that much to say about her, though. XD) And when everybody thanked him and he was just looking around like he didn't know what was going on...awww.

Also, ever since Jackson mentioned his "TARDIS", I'd been wanting him to see the real one. I'm so glad he actually did. :D

AND THEN CHRISTMAS DINNER. Oh, Doctor. I'm so glad you went. You needed that. You just really, really needed that.

This is making me excited, and anticipating more happy specials. Well, I was anticipating happy JE (for Ten I), so maybe RTD will still crush me, but really. At this point the Doctor emphatically does not want more companions (and I am still so happy that he was completely honest about why). The format of the show requires companions, so hopefully RTD will be getting him to the point where he thinks traveling with people is worth it again.

But right now, I am still in shock. HAPPY EPISODE OMG!

Also, I've watched the first three episodes of Life on Mars (UK version, of course). Another show I need to completely devour and then probably read fanfic for! (Though likely not write it, unless seeing the rest of the show makes me want to.) Also, good for John Simm--it only took me five minutes to stop thinking of him as the Master and believe in him as Sam Tyler. XD

Anyway. Now to watch more LoM.
