The Tenth Floor: Tuesday afternoon

Ryn sat quietly, a chess board set up in front of her. She was studying it carefully, her long finger resting on a knight. On the floor stacked up beside her were several suitcases, next to her in the chair was a small gift bag.

Sugar sighed as she stepped in the door, tossing her keys and purse on the table next to it; she probably overreacted with Ryn the other day but this is how she was becoming: protective. She was becoming quite protective of her feelings, safe guarding them 'till she knows that Ryn is the right person to spend her life with.

She turned the corner and saw Ryn with a bunch of suitcases next to her, she sighed and took a seat infront of the woman, "Check mate?" she slowly, she had never played chess before but..that's all she knew.

Ryn gave her a smile and flicked the queen over and leaned back into the seat. She stared at Shush for a few moments unsure if she wanted to do this or not.

"Do you love me?" Ryn asked knitting her fingers together and surveying Shush over them.

"I do. Very much so." she felt the need to protect her point, "I'm just very guarded Ryn. I truly love you but my heart and mind want to fight it 'till they know it's..right." she bit at her bottom lip, "I was used way too much before I came here.." she felt like she was rambling, so she stopped talking and downcasted her eyes to her lap, her hands fidgeting.

Ryn nodded and sighed. "When will you know it's right?" Ryn swallowed. "I mean we got the dress and decided on a spot...I thought that meant you were pretty sure."

Sugar's bottom lip quivered, "If.." she trailed, "What if I let you feed on me?" eyes coming to match Ryn's, glassy with impending tears.

Ryn tilted her head and looked at her. "Dearest, I-..." Ryn frowned "I don't want that from you. I-" Ryn sighed for a moment covering her face with her hands and sighing heavily. "I never wanted that from you dearest. I wanted to love you and I would have rather you never have found out what I was but...I couldn't keep lying to you, not if you were going to be mine forever." Ryn swallowed hard "If I were to taste you, it would be because you want me to not because you are afraid that if you don't I won't love you."

"But..You love her for that, don't you? George? She gives you the substance that your kind thrive off of." she frowns slightly, "She must be real precious to you then." her voice in that mourning tone, a solemn look on her face.

Ryn took a deep breath. "George, gives herself willingly to me, without question and without fear." Ryn stared down at the floor. "She won't die if I get carried away, you...your human Shush and I could harm you if I did to you what I am able to do with her and yes, she is precious to me. She isn't afraid of me." Ryn said sadly, her heart broken that underneath she really felt Shush was terrified of her.

Her cheeks felt wet and she frantically rubbed under them to wipe them off, "I'm not afraid of you..Just very confused." she sniffs, "I come from a very female dominating, closed minded era. It wont be easy for me to just willingly let you feed on me." she paused, bottom lip quivering, "And it won't be easy for me, to see the woman I love the most be with another woman." tears slowly dripping off her cheeks into her lap.

"You make it sound like I am going to eat you for dinner Shush. It's isn't like that, it's..." Ryn paused "It's not like that at all. I know the era you come from dearest, I lived in it and left England because it was so stiffling at that time." She smiled sadly. "I love you." She said quietly. "I'm not asking you to let me taste you, it's ok if you never allow me to. I can live with that."

Sugar stands, there's so many thoughts running through her mind right now; there are so many voices yelling at her to just run towards the door, never look back and let Ryn have what she needs to survive. She breathes, walking over to the bar and pouring herself a stiff glass of whiskey; after she downs it, she turns back around, letting the alcohol toughen her up a tad.

"I love you too." she gives a small smile back, "I want us to get married, to be together forever..but this other girl. She has what I do not." her eyes rest on Ryn's face.

Ryn crossed the room and stood looking at her. "What does she have Shush? What? Besides something that you cannot give right now. What do you lack?" Ryn said looking around the apartment, at the bag laying on the chair she had just abandoned. "What do you lack dearest name it." Ryn's voice was desperate.

"Immortality." she breathed, "You're so afraid you'll hurt me, but I'm stronger than I appear!" she cried, a hand covering her mouth. She felt so useless to Ryn, she couldn't give the woman the one substance that she depended on - and that was because she was scared. Not like she was going to admit it.

"Baby." Ryn closed her arms around Shush, her lips pressing against her hair. "I know you are, I know your strong." Ryn cooed and pressed her lips to her hair again. "Shhh don't cry, don't cry. I love you so much, your everything in the world I love." She whispered against her ear.

Sugar wrapped her arms tightly around Ryn's waist, nuzzling her face in the womans hair and neck; she didn't want to seem weak at this moment but this is how she felt inside.

She clung tightly, "I want you all to myself." she cries, "Is that too much to ask?" mumbling against the flesh of Ryn's neck.

Ryn laid her head onto Shush's shoulder and closed her eyes at the request. She couldn't give George up, the part of her that made her immortal screamed for George as much as the human side to Ryn screamed for Shush.

"I know." Ryn said quietly, she swallowed hard as her arms tightened around her. "I am with you my darling as much as my heart will allow me to be. I love you, I love you more then I ever have a right to love anyone you know that?"
